Nicky Katt, whose TV and film credits include Boston Public and Dazed and Confused, has died. He was 54.

The news of Katt’s death was confirmed Saturday by his attorney, John Sloss, to our sister site The Hollywood Reporter.

Nicky Katt, the actor known for his roles in the indie film classic Dazed and Confused and on the ABC series Boston Public, has died. He was 54.

Katt’s attorney, John Sloss, confirmed his death to The Hollywood Reporter but did not divulge any details.

Born in South Dakota on May 11, 1970, Katt began as a child actor, appearing on episodes of such TV shows as CHiPs, Father Murphy, Code Red, Herbie, the Love Bug, Voyagers! and Quincy, M.E.

He landed one of his most notable roles in Dazed and Confused (1993), where he played Clint Bruno. The coming-of-age film follows a group of rowdy teenagers in Austin celebrating the last day of high school in 1976. Ben Affleck, Matthew McConaughey, Parker Posey and Joey Lauren Adams starred in the film as well.

The first feature film to be released by Walt Disney animation was, as most know, David Hand's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" in 1937. Walt Disney himself, of course, had been working in animation for over 15 years at that point, having founded Laugh-o-Gram Studios in 1921. It was at that studio where Disney developed his taste for well-worn fairy tales, making shorts based on "Little Red Riding Hood," "Jack and the Beanstalk," "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," "Cinderella," and "Alice in Wonderland." Peter Renaday, a longtime and prolific voice actor best known as the voice of rat sensei Master Splinter in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV series, died Sunday, September 8, at his home in Burbank, California. He was 89.

News of his death was shared on social media by friend and Turtles costar Townsend Coleman, who voiced the character of Michaelangelo on the immensely popular generational touchstone animated series of the 1980s-’90s.

A cause of death has not been determined, but TMZ cites law enforcement sources as having discovered an unresponsive Renaday during a welfare check at his home on Sunday. Natural causes are suspected.

Volkswagen of America is marking 75 years in the U.S. with a Super Bowl ad featuring Herbie the Love Bug and a swirl of other pop-culture highlights.

Paramount is charging as much as $7 million for 30 seconds of commercial time on the game, so it’s a sizable investment by the automaker.

After John Carpenter made "Halloween" in 1978, the director wasn't terribly interested in making a sequel. The Jonas Brothers played their first of two shows at Yankee Stadium in New York on Saturday to kick off “The Tour,” their 90-plus date international live trek.

With the right kind of eyes, a casual viewer can look at the early days of Walt Disney Studios as their heyday. Walt himself was still alive and using his aggressive business acumen to produce visually innovative and award-winning animated shorts that were helping put the studio on the map. Without the Silly Symphonies, animation would not be the same. Warner Bros. outstripped Disney's fare with their cheekier, funnier shorts in the 1940s and 1950s, but the folks at Warner's Termite Terrace were very open about the fact that Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes were ripping off Disney's Silly Symphonies name. Disney Animation broke onto the scene in 1937 with the release of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," still celebrated as one of the best of all animated films to this day.

Human Resources, a spinoff of Big Mouth, explores the monster workplace of the popular Netflix series and introduces numerous new creatures that make up this universe. Viewers met plenty of the show's beings in the parent show as they were assigned to be the main characters' Hormone Monsters, Lovebugs, and so on. However, while Big Mouth mainly centers around the lives of preteens and teenagers as they go through puberty, the creatures in Human Resources also help adults as they go through motherhood, lost love, and more.

The Big Mouth spinoff premiered in March 2022, and a month later, the streaming service renewed it for a second season, which dropped in June 2023. Unfortunately, Netflix canceled Human Resources after season 2. The good news is that the monsters and creatures will continue to appear in Big Mouth seasons 7 and 8, with the eighth season serving as the adult animated show's last outing.

Lindsay Lohan's career and personal life underwent a series of volatile shifts after she starred in Mean Girls. This may make you feel old and happy at the same time! It’s been 20 years since Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero was released and to honor the anniversary, Warner Archive Collection is coming out with a remastered Blu-ray version of the award-winning animated film. Below are all the details on the release and some special news for Wondercon 2018 attendees.

Originally released as a direct-to-video film on March 17, 1998, Batman & Mr. Freeze: Sub-Zero will be released on Blu-ray in its original 4×3 Fullframe aspect ratio. The 67-minute film will be accompanied by several special features, including Art of Batman: Music Montage; Get the Picture: How to Draw Batman; the film’s theatrical trailer; and the Batman: The Animated Series/The Bew Batman Adventures/Batman Beyond “Mr. Freeze Saga” in chronological order – four episodes entitled “Heart of Ice,” “Deep Freeze,” “Cold Comfort” and “Meltdown.” The episodes will be presented in standard definition.

The world would be a much better place if Bruce Campbell had been allowed to develop and star in a Dick Tracy TV series.

In the late 1990s, the great Bruce Campbell found himself in Disney's orbit, appearing in the 1997 TV movie version of The Love Bug and seven episodes of Ellen on Disney's ABC network.

During this period, Campbell landed a development deal with Disney, which unfortunately didn't lead to any major starring roles or projects, but one property under Disney's control caught his eye as he was browsing through a list of properties under their control: the most famous comic strip detective in history, Dick Tracy. 

This story comes to light in Bruce Campbell's latest book, Hail to the Chin: Further Confessions of a B Movie Actor, the delightful sequel to his equally delightful If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor.

If Matt Reeves’ much-anticipated “War on the Planet of the Apes” (20th Century Fox) opens Friday to an expected $70 million or more, that would put it ahead (in domestic returns at least) of such recent high altitude-franchise stumbles as “Alien: Covenant,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” and “Transformers.”

Several factors contribute to the elevated respect for the series, going back almost half a century to when the first film, never intended as anything other than a standalone, became a surprise success in 1968.

Someone at Disney really loves the Love Bug: Herbie is currently in development as a potential series on Disney Xd, a rep for the network confirms to TVLine exclusively.

The iconic, anthropomorphic Volkswagen Beetle first appeared in Disney’s 1968 film The Love Bug and has been the subject of several movies — including the Lindsay Lohan-fronted 2005 movie Herbie: Fully Loaded. He’s also already been the subject of a 1982 television series, the one-season Herbie, the Love Bug, and a made-for-tv movie.

Jones, who has died aged 84, starred as the bumbling, somewhat bland, hero in five entertaining kiddie movies with animals in the title: That Darn Cat! Jones rose to stardom thanks to a handful of roles in successful Disney family films like "That Darn Cat!" and "The Love Bug," the latter of which introduced the world to Herbie, the Volkswagen Beetle with human-like tendencies.
