- Christopher Pepper: [the Inspector had just called him "Mr. Salt"] I'm Pepper, he's Salt.
- Inspector Crabbe: Odd.
- Charles Salt: Isn't it?
- Charles Salt: Colonel. Colonel, let's get one thing straight now, huh? We don't want to get mixed up in this thing. I can give you four good reasons why we don't want to get mixed up in this thing: One, it ain't any of our business. Two, we're night club operators. Three, if you want secret agents, then go get James Bond or those two guys on television; the one that plays tennis, you know? Four, our dance card is filled. So, ciao, Colonel. Let's get out of here.
- [Sgt. Walters walks into Inspector Crabbe's office holding possible murder weapon, the knife, and gets Inspector Crabbe's attention by saying, "Psst!"]
- Inspector Crabbe: Examine the knife?
- Sgt. Walters: Uh, yes, sir.
- Inspector Crabbe: Uh-huh.
- [Inspector Crabbe and Sgt. Walters both make their way over to Charles Salt and Christopher Pepper, both of whom are sitting down]
- Inspector Crabbe: Fingerprints?
- Sgt. Walters: Yes, sir.
- Inspector Crabbe: His?
- Sgt. Walters: Mine, sir.
- [There's a slightly embarrassed look on Inspector Crabbe's face]
- Inspector Crabbe: Blood?
- Sgt. Walters: Yes, sir.
- Inspector Crabbe: Hers?
- [quietly]
- Sgt. Walters: Yours, sir.
- Inspector Crabbe: Hmm?
- Sgt. Walters: Yours, sir.
- [There's a much more embarrassed look on Inspector Crabbe's face as Charles Salt and Christopher Pepper both snicker in the background]
- [Charles Salt and Christopher Pepper are sitting down and watching Marianne Renaud dance with a gentleman friend in their night club]
- Christopher Pepper: I just don't understand it. Why she keeps giving me a hard time? I know that she likes me. It's just something you don't imagine.
- Charles Salt: But Chris, you can imagine anything you want to. I imagined that I saw a dead body in my closet tonight. Why? Because I'm allergic to bodies.
- [a brunette, who's dancing with her back towards Charles Salt and Christopher Pepper, gets nearer and nearer to both of them. Charles Salt notices her]
- Charles Salt: Well, I mean I could be cured, you know?
- [giggles]
- Christopher Pepper: I can see what you mean.
