One of only a few film adaptions of the prose of Stanislaw Lem that the writer was actually satisfied with. What Lem especially liked about Wajda's movie was the performance of Bogumil Kobiela, the leading comedian in the Polish cinema of 1960s.
Bogumil Kobiela plays a racing car driver Richard Fox who has multiple car crashes. Ironically, the actor was killed in a car crash in 1969, just one year after the film's release.
