- Scenes of simulated sex and many of topless women (the latter only found in the extended cut). Extended sex scene depicts shoulders, faces, and hair, with one glimpse of a breast. Rape scene: strongly implied but not explicit. Girl offers herself sexually to the villain in hopes of securing clemency for another.

- Scenes of burnings and hangings of condemned prisoners, plus body mutilation, stabbings, beatings, and torture. A man is hacked with an axe and shot. People accused of witchcraft are dragged to the gallows and kicked on the ground. Enemy soldiers are shot and seen lying dead. There are several violent brawls and bloody injuries.

- Several tavern scenes in which men are obviously drunk. A man drunkenly asleep on the floor is kicked awake.
Frightening & Intense Scenes

- An accused witch is tied to a ladder which is raised upon a gallows pole. Then gradually she is lowered by ropes as the ladder descends forward into a roaring fire. The woman screams and is shown burning.
- Many such scenes. An accused woman is pulled through the street screaming and begging for mercy. Executions are shown with emphasis on the victims' terror. A man and woman are tortured and it is strongly suggested that both lose or nearly lose their sanity.
