Decent Mix of Horror and Striptease

Mundo depravados (1967)

** (out of 4)

A masked maniac is murdering women so a couple dimwitted detectives team up with a stripper named Tango (Tempest Storm) and try to find the person doing the crimes.

This film runs a very slow and very drawn out 77-minutes but outside of the pacing issues there are some interesting things to be had here. As you'd guess if you're a fan of Something Weird Video, this movie isn't a masterpiece but there are enough interesting things going on that make it worth viewing. I will say that for a film made this late in the game, shooting it in B&W actually helps because it adds a bit of atmosphere.

The mystery of who the murderer is isn't too hard to figure out but the setting of the burlesque house is a nice touch and the addition of Storm is what will make most people want to check this out. She was a well-known name back in her time and even though this film came towards the end of her career, she's still easy on the eyes even though her performance leads a lot to be desired. Another strange thing are how dumb and weird the two detectives are. The film was obviously aimed at the rain coat crowd as there's quite a bit of nudity, which of course would be its main drawing power.

Won't Hold Your Attention

This is so poorly realized that it's hard to stick with it.

I get that it has a cult following because of Jeffries and Storm, but that's not enough to make this a watchable movie.

It's too slow. The acting does not exist. And Jeffries should have stuck to Jazz.

The so called stripper stuf is mostly girls in leotards exercising or dancing fully clothed to the victrola and getting down to panties.. Maybe this was hot in the 60's but somehow I doubt it. Russ Meyer knew how to do it way better

Sleazarrific!

Warning: Spoilers
This is a classic example of nudie cinema with a rather sleazy but fun plot. The great Tempest Storm stars as a stripper who's coworkers are being knocked off. A pair of goofy detectives try and catch the killer. None of this is important, nor is the fact that the va va voom voluptuous Ms. Storm has a very distinct line reading style, but instead that everyone is having a ball.

POSSIBLE SPOILER

One of the truly great moments of filmdom comes when a photographer comes to take a photo of one of the victims. After taking a shot the police officer (!) flips the dead girls clothes off so the photographer can get a cheesecake shot to sell to some sleazy tabloid. They don't make films like that any more & I for one miss them!

Two comedian policemen try to track down a killer who has been murdering women. Funny stuff happens along the way. This is about the funniest movie with the two policemen doing just silly stuff and acting weird. Especially funny is the name of the killer!
