- No sex. There is some very mild nudity. Men taking baths. A group of boys about 7 years old jump into an Onsen (bath) and very briefly are seen naked.

- Very mild profanity. One or two "son of a bitch's" over the course of the entire movie. Nothing more. Maybe an "ass". Not a noticeable thing in this one.

- No drugs. Talk of Sake (rice wine). Some characters seen drinking Sake, not in too much excess though. Mild smoking. Not seen throughout most of the movie

Violence & Gore
- No Gore, some violence though. Most of it appears off screen. At the beginning a couple me are beat up and noses bloodied. Zatoichi slashes and kills about a half dozen men. Some characters kill a samurai out of revenge. Gorey sounds are heard and we see the characters thrusting their swords, but we don't see the act or any blood. Even the body is not really seen.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- A young girl is kidnapped briefly and is heard screaming for help as Zatoichi fights the captors in an intense fight sequence. That's about it.
