Quotes

  • Anna Weir : Attractive, isn't she?

Graham Weir : What do you want to say it in that silly voice for?

  • [last lines]

Graham Weir : [about the false accusations against him about sexually assaulting Shirley]  You're the only person who believed me in court, but you're going to leave me just the same.

Anna Weir : Oh, I believed you all right, and I can assure you that you looked far sillier to me standing up there talking that rubbish about humiliation and purity than if you'd actually had the girl than if you would. Well, as far as I'm concerned, I'd much rather be badly treated by a man with some spirit than to have to put up with your endless mush.

Graham Weir : Well, uh, dear, um, you better know then. What the girl said in her original accusation was true. Every word of it.

    Anna Weir : You're lying.

Graham Weir : No. She was lying in the end when she defended me.

[Anna gets up off the bed, walks around it to Graham on the other side, and slaps him hard across the face]

Anna Weir : [turning away from him]  So, you got your home back, didn't you.

Graham Weir : Oh, no dear, but you wanted the truth. Once I'm afraid I didn't live up to your estimation of me.

Anna Weir : I suppose you loved.

Graham Weir : I was infatuated, that's it. Flattered. I did what most men would do.

Anna Weir : Men, you're all alike. Well, who would have guessed it of you.

Graham Weir : [about the trial]  Most people, apparently.

Anna Weir : I could do with a drink. There must be some left from when those people came. You want one?

Graham Weir : Uh uh. Thank you though.

Anna Weir : You know, I always knew that slut meant business.

Graham Weir : Yes, well, you certainly warned me. Righteous.

Anna Weir : [walking back toward him on the bed]  I can see I have to keep an eye on you from now on.

Graham Weir : Yes. You will, won't you.

Anna Weir : [as he pulls her on top of him lying down]  You're a rotten hypocrite, Graham. But I will say, you're less of a mouse than I thought.

Graham Weir : [as she places her head on his chest]  I am, am I.
