Warning: Spoilers
Cult exploitation filmmaker Doris Wishman directed this early nudist-colony film. The owner of a real-estate agency fires one of his agents, Tom, for being a nudist, unaware that another of his employees, Tom's wife Ann, is also a naturist. Everything works out in the end, as the stodgy boss decides to give the clothing-optional lifestyle a try. Wishman, who went on to make far darker exploitation films, shot this innocent romp at Homestead, Florida's Sunny Palms Lodge, one of the state's many actual nudist colonies.

My Rating:4/10.

Gentlemen Prefer Nature Girls (1963)

* 1/2 (out of 4)

Married couple Anne and Tom spend their weekends at a nudist camp. All is good until Tom's boss realizes that he is doing this and is fired. Now Tom must do some thinking while at the nudist camp.

Doris Wishman started her career by making these type of nudist films. I'll be honest with you, I think the entire genre is one of the hardest to watch today for a variety of reasons but the biggest one being that there's really no plot or anything else in these movies and instead these movies were just made to show off some T&A. The T&A factor is why these films were made and why people would go to watch them back in the day.

To say that these movies are old-fashioned today would be an understatement and I'd also argue that none of them have aged all that well. Yes, there are several beautiful women to look at and the majority of the 71-minute running time has boobs and butts hanging out everywhere. It's just after a while it really becomes boring and there's nothing special or interesting with the plot to keep you more entertained.

Warning: Spoilers
Mr. Brooks is fired from his office job when his boss finds out that he is a nudist ("scandalous"). Little does he know that his secretary Ms. Bell (a redhead) is secretly Mrs. Brooks, and also a member of the same lodge (Sunny Palms, Homestead, Florida). A mutual business partner turns up at the resort too, and hatches a plan to get the disapproving boss to stay there. Of course he learns to love being naked under the sun and re-hires Mr. Brooks. A happy ending. This simple, laid-back color movie (that runs just over an hour) has almost the same relaxing vibe as Wishman's classic NUDE ON THE MOON. As well as the expected volleyball, Sunny Palms members line-up to shoot hoops (!), lounge on see-saws, do archery (with rubber-tipped arrows) and (my favourite) sit around swaying while a naked dude plays the accordian. I love it! Also note the fact that it rains (a rarity in nudist camp movies, but surely an occasional reality). Unfortunately Wishman's final three nudist flicks (PLAYGIRLS INTERNATIONAL, BEHIND THE NUDIST CURTAIN and THE PRINCE AND THE NATURE GIRL) remain lost. Her next phase was the stark b/w NYC psychodrama, beginning with BAD GIRLS GO TO HELL.
