A rare and worth movie from Seijun Suzuki...

First, let me say that I watched this movie without subtitles nor dubbing. Sorry but I will do my best to comment it. The first scenes reminded me a subject very close to SEA FOG, a Korean movie that I saw last year and speaking of human smuggling, clandestine passengers aboard little ships. A movie speaking of the struggle between the authorities and the smugglers. The hero is a coast guard whose burden to to patrol. Believe me, it's very difficult and annoying to watch a film in such conditions, but I have no choice. I prefer seeing it than not see it at all. I only hope that it will emerge some day with subtitles. So, back to the comment, it's an action feature with some light romance moments, but not really the Suzuki touch. However I am not a specialist of this kind of cinema. You have here the scheme of a friendship between the coast guard sailor and a smuggler with of course a gal in between. Some moving moments against which language issue doesn't prevent to get the true meaning. Worth watching anyway.
