Sex & Nudity

  • A male character ritually cleanses his body in a mediaeval, Scandinavian manner, by exposing himself to hot steam and beating his naked body with birch branches, and this scene contains partial nudity where everything except the man's private parts are seen.
  • Central to the plot is a scene of rape, which is quite explicit without showing any nudity above the young girl's thighs.

Violence & Gore

  • Central to the plot are four murders, all of which take place on screen, and two of which include views of blood. One involves a clubbing, with a single blow; another a stabbing; the third person is held in a fire until he dies, and the fourth is a boy thrown against a wall.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Briefly, a dead chicken is seen being plucked.
  • A woman secretly puts a live frog between two pieces of bread, intending to trick someone into eating it. (The frog eventually escapes.)
  • The infamous rape scene can be tough to sit through.
  • The revenge scene is also very disturbing.
  • The scene where Ingeri meets Odin is not as disturbing but rather unsettling.
