Who ever was responsible which actual criminal act should be turned into a "Stahlnetz" episode, that person took care that the cases picked showed a variety of crimes and approaches. Since "Stahlnetz" did not invent crime story telling in movies one gets the feeling that some fictional films might have been an inspiration for the way these stories are presented.

Here we have a case where the number of suspects is limited to six people working in the same bank branch. Much ado is done in the voice-over that not only catching the real one is important but also the clearing of the other five innocents.

One aspect in the "Stahlnetz" series is quite unique I think and that is, that from the beginning there was no fixed running time to the episodes. In fact they got longer and longer from one episode to the next, starting out with just over 30 minutes for the first episode and ending with over 90 minutes for the latest.

Here we have a running time of 50 minutes. Somehow, no matter how long the episode, there always are moments where you think the just added this to fill out time, something they obviously had no reason to do. Maybe I'm so used to the action- and fact-packed TV shows of today that I question everything that is of no importance to the story. On the other hand, what I most enjoy when I watch the series is the many everyday details which you get otherwise only in a documentary.

Back to this episode: the setting was great but it dragged on… somehow there was more potential in it without twisting the reality. But overall, it is obvious that the storytelling gets better and better.
