Sex & Nudity

  • Brief shot of a drawing of a nude woman on a jail wall early in the film.
  • We see some kissing. Sex is never shown, but it is implied several times.
  • Some girls are seen dancing and singing showing their entire legs.
  • A woman is seen lying in bed acting sexy while doing a commercial for a pill (supposedly sex-enhancing). Audacious for the 1950's, but very soft for today's standards.
  • Some scenes of girls baton-twirling (similar to cheerleaders) emphasize their bodily attributes, while a man looks on them with a lusty look.

Violence & Gore

Profanity

  • A character refers to a group of black people as monkeys.
  • Andy Griffith uses the word "shit" once in a brief moment.
  • Name-calling like "stupid" "idiot", etc.
  • Mild. During the actual movie, the profanity was mild. However, Andy Griffith drops the 'F' bomb in the special feature interview.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Drugs: None
  • Smoking and drinking are both especially frequent in the film, especially by Rhodes.
  • The smoking and drinking are accurate for the time period.
  • Everybody smokes. Everybody drinks. Rhodes, to excess
