Dave O'Brien's finest hour!
JohnHowardReid17 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Copyright 1956 by Regal Productions, Inc. A Regalscope Picture, released through 20th Century-Fox Film Corporation. No New York opening. U.S. release: November 1956. U.K. release: 4 February 1957. Australian release: 5 April 1957. 72 minutes. Cut by the distributor to 61 minutes in the U.K.

SYNOPSIS: Dissatisfied with life on a Southern farm, Lonny Kosh travels west, where he joins up with Frank Banner, a member of an outlaw gang headed by the Lapman Brothers. Although never actively involved in crime, Lonny eventually leaves the gang.

COMMENT: No doubt about it, the old hack reliables generally turned out better films under the RegalScope banner than did the newcomers from the editorial ranks. This one is no exception. Boasting a quite remarkable performance by ex-leading man/comedy stooge Dave O'Brien as a deep-dyed villain and with an unusually fine music score from the generally pedestrian team of Sawtell and Shefter, it also has an interesting story line. The direction keeps it moving at an agreeable pace and the cast is reasonably attractive.
