- A female convict is whisked out of prison and into a police-guarded hotel until the district attorney can convince her to testify against the mob.
- Sherry Conley, a cynical street tough woman with an unhappy family background, is taken from her prison cell to a hotel where the DA tries to convince her to testify against a mobster. Sherry is reluctant because the last witness was murdered before he made it to the stand, so why should she stick her neck out? At the hotel, several attempts are made on her life and she falls for Vince, the policeman guarding her.—John Oswalt <jao@jao.com>
- Streetwise former model Sherry Conley is in the final eleven months - she believes what will be the longest eleven months of her life - of her four year sentence at Upstate Women's Prison for harboring a criminal and accessory to a crime, she professing solely to being in the wrong place at the wrong time regarding the charges for which she was convicted. She does solely what she is asked to do, no more, no less, in serving her time. Not knowing the reason, she is unexpectedly whisked away under the custody of Police Lieutenant Vince Striker and prison guard Willoughby to a protected hotel suite, she eventually learning directly from District Attorney Lloyd Hallett the reason being his want for her to testify at the trial of Benjamin Costain, someone she met only briefly once on a yacht with her "friend", Pete Tonelli. Sherry does not know the extent of Costain's criminal activities, he the most wanted and dangerous criminal of the underworld, Hallett's want for a conviction leading to his deportation. She is also unaware that she is Hallett's last hope in that conviction in Costain having managed to bump off other potential witnesses, such as Tonelli, the reason Hallett chose a less obvious hotel rather than the more obvious city jail where to house Sherry during this time. Hallett has to push the right button(s) to convince seemingly reluctant Sherry - one of those buttons possibly to commute the remainder of her sentence if she cooperates - that reluctance which is strengthened when it looks like Costain and his thugs have not only discovered that Hallett has yet another potential witness in Sherry but where Hallett has her housed. The situation is further complicated as Sherry and Vince seem like they are falling for each other, that complication beyond the on-the-face situation.—Huggo
