Their fictional characters from the 1931 pre-code Warner Brothers movie haven't married and moved to London here. Ben Lyon and wife Bebe Daniels are now the parents of two children (teens Richard and Barbara), and have lived abroad since the early 40's. Their long lasting British sitcom spun off two features, and this one is quite zany, very American spirited much like Ben and Bebe. Even though they were born overseas, Richard and Barbara are very much American in spirit.
This entry deals with their efforts to settle peacefully in their new rented house with landlord Hugh Morton very close to the irascible characters that Gale Gordon would play on the many American sitcoms he starred in. Belinda Lee is his eccentric daughter who dates Richard, and a young Arthur Hill is a cowboy singer from Texas who becomes engaged to Barbara. The focus is on slapstick, a mixed bag, and the conflict of cultures. Mildly amusing silliness.
