Corliss and Dexter are invited to a party that requires formal attire. The two teenagers struggle to find the necessary garments without having to break into their piggy banks.

Mr. Archer and Mr. Franklin decide to teach their children Corliss and Bill the value of saving money and the benefits that come with it.

A client's allergy to strawberries provides an itchy problem for Mr. Archer (John Eldredge).

Dexter is directing the annual school parent/student play. Corliss is the lead, but to get Harry he tells him Judge Peters is appearing. To get the Judge he gives the lead to Lucy Peters and, well, you get the idea!

After seeing Mr. Archer hide a package and misunderstanding a business call, Corliss and Dexter decide he's a kleptomaniac.

Corliss and Dex struggle with a tough algebra problem. Their parents smugly think they can find the answer, and soon everyone is working on the problem with no solution in sight!

Corliss has the measles, which makes Mr. Archer happy, because that means a whole week without Dexteruntil Dex is quarantined along with her!

Harry Archer needs to make an important phone call but is hindered by losing the phone number, not to mention the phone! Not helping at all is Corliss doing housework and Dexter's arrival with a pie and a watermelon.

Mrs. Archer buys a vase that is supposed to be rare, and with good reason--it's incredibly ugly. The vase winds up causing trouble between the Archers and their neighbors, and the whole episode has Dexter wondering if all the adults in the neighborhood have gone insane.

When Dexter finds that Corliss is being pursued by a rival who wants her to be a cheerleader, he winds up asking Mr. Archer for advice about what to do. After Mr. Archer's plans don't produce any results, Dexter decides to go with a more aggressive approach.

Harry decides Janet needs help so he hires a maid, who turns out to be very unpleasant and not at all what they expected.

Dex thinks he is an adult, so he starts his own business: babysitting. Now it's all work, work, work.

Dexter and Corliss go to a masquerade party. He goes as a knight in armor. He gets stuck in it after a fall. A tow truck is called. The driver tries to free him from the suit with no luck. Corliss gets him out by using a can opener.

Dexter becomes a dance instructor for his father and Mrs. Archer.

When Harry and Dexter find out that Corliss and Janet let them win at games, they decide to even the score.

The Archers decide they are spending too much money and have to cut back.

Corliss plans a party with all of her friends, but Harry and Janet don't think she is old enough to hostess her own party.

When the Wilsons move next door to the Archers everything goes wrong, leading the Wilsons to believe the Archers are nuts and the Archers to think the Wilsons are dangerous.

Mr. Archer decides to buy a new TV---much to his wife's distress

Mr. and Mrs. Archer ask Dexter to find a party date for Corliss' rather homely friend Doris. Despite his best efforts, Dexter can't find anyone willing to take her to the party, and winds up doing the deed himself.

The Franklins and the Wilsons suddenly bow out of the weekly dart game, throwing off plans for a secret surprise party for Harry. When Corliss and her mom accidentally walk in on the two families discussing something in very hushed tones, they mistakenly believe that the families are snubbing them. Dexter, seeing how upset Corliss is about the whole matter, tells her the truth, but that winds up causing more headaches.

Corliss and Dexter are building a boat, and Harry and Bill want to help.

The Franklyns are having their house painted and the Archers invite them to stay at their house. But sometimes even best friends shouldn't be together for very long.

Harry reads a psychiatric book and decides his stiff neck is caused by everyone else's problems.

The Archers and Franklyns have a falling out when Janet and Mary are both nominated for president of their club.

Dexter has everyone visiting a swami who tells their future, with Harry being the only skeptic.

Harry becomes upset after hearing Corliss' essay on family life, which names the father as a dictator. Harry declares a democracy, majority rules, but he keeps losing the vote.

Dexter and the guys donate their allowances to charity for a month, meaning no money for dates. Harry tells Corliss that the girls should take the guys out and pay for the date, which causes an uproar in the whole town.

Dexter's jalopy falls apart, so he borrows the Archers' vehicle to drive over to borrow a car. The kids have trouble and Harry misses a meeting while getting arrested for car theft!

Unimpressed with Bill's new camera, Harry digs out his father's old camera, which Dex destroys.

Corliss is unhappy because a personality test shows that she and Dex are not compatible, but Harry has a solution.

Harry convinces Janet to take some college classes, so she and Mary sign up, leaving all the housework for Corliss and Dexter.

After Corliss and Dex have a fight, Harry and Janet tell Dex how they handled each other before getting married; but their stories don't quite match.

Corliss Archer and her goofy steady Dexter resolve to make gifts for everyone as Mr. and Mrs. Archer takes charge of decorating the house. Unfortunately others don't cooperate and even though the decorations, gifts, and Christmas tree are ruined, everyone ends up in the high spirits of the season.
