Nick Cutter writes some of the scariest, goriest horror novels around, yet the Canadian author is very mild-mannered. While firing up our Zoom conversation to discuss his new book, “The Queen,” I told Cutter I was riveted by the story, but my wife could only make it halfway through the galley, as the vivid descriptions of body horror and insects made her stomach churn.
“Oh, she wouldn’t be the first one and she won’t be the last,” he says with a gentle laugh. “Not only with that one but probably some of the other Cutter books.”
Cutter is the pen name of Craig Davidson, who also writes under his government name and as Patrick Lestewka. He notes that the Cutter persona speaks to “the horror that I grew up on”: Stephen King, Clive Barker and Dean Koontz, of course, but more specifically “men and women in the drugstore spinning rack.

Things are getting incredibly tense in Peacock horror series “Teacup,” executive produced by James Wan and inspired by Robert McCammon‘s Stinger. Firmly trapped in place by a mysterious force, the disparate group now realizes the threat could be any one of them in an exclusive new clip ahead of this week’s episodes.
The first two episodes of Atomic Monster and UCP’s series “Teacup” premiered on Peacock on Thursday, October 10, followed by two episodes weekly through Halloween.
The series from Atomic Monster, UCP, and showrunner Ian McCulloch (“Yellowstone”) follows a group of people on a ranch who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive. As the showrunner previously revealed, don’t expect this series to faithfully adhere to the novel that inspired it.

New York Comic Con 2024 is officially over, and we're still reeling over all the news that was released during the popular convention. One piece of news that really stuck out to us was Jason Blum sharing an update on the upcoming Dead by Daylight movie. He gave a little update on where he and the movie's creative team are when it comes to the filmmaking process, and we'd say it's a pretty hopeful update.
Word of a Dead by Daylight movie first emerged back in March 2023. At the time, it was announced that James Wan's Atomic Monster and Jason Blum's Blumhouse would be collaborating with Behaviour Interactive to create a feature film adaptation of the popular horror multiplayer video game of the same name. It was also revealed at the time that a search had begun for a director and screenwriter for the movie.

Jason Blum, the founder of Blumhouse, recently provided an update on the progress of the ‘Dead by Daylight’ movie during New York Comic-Con. Caught up by ComicBook, Blum shared that the script is still being worked on and emphasized the importance of not rushing the process. He stated, ‘We don’t put movies in the calendar until we have the right script.’
The adaptation is being developed in partnership with James Wan’s Atomic Monster and Behaviour Interactive, the original creators of the game.
Though specifics about the director or screenwriter have yet to be announced, the involvement of such prominent figures in horror cinema has set high expectations.
Blum drew parallels between this project and the lengthy development of Blumhouse’s ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ movie. He recalled how the latter project took nearly a decade to perfect before its release in 2023.
Despite mixed reviews from critics, the movie resonated well with fans,...

Back in March, we heard that production had wrapped on the Stephen King adaptation The Monkey, which is coming our way from the team of producer / genre regular James Wan and director Osgood Perkins, whose credits include The Blackcoat’s Daughter (a.k.a. February), I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, Gretel & Hansel, and the recent Nicolas Cage horror film Longlegs (you can read our review Here). Longlegs was released by Neon – and they’ll also be giving The Monkey a theatrical release on February 21, 2025. We saw a short teaser for this one back in August, and now a new teaser trailer has dropped online to give us a look at more footage from the film. You can check it out in the embed above.

Crank your organ grinder and prepare for February to get your heart pumping harder than trying to decide what to buy your partner for Valentine’s Day because Osgood Perkins’ The Monkey teaser poster is here. Perkins, who delivered one of this year’s best thrillers with Longlegs, is adapting the short story from Stephen King for screens, with James Wan and Michael Clear along for the terrifying ride. The Monkey teaser poster follows August’s trailer tease for the upcoming horror movie featuring a wind-up monkey with spiraling eyes and a Cheshire grin.
The Monkey teaser poster is simplistic in design. It shows the sinister monkey smiling in the dark as a beam of light illuminates its blood-red eye. You can almost hear the rat-tat-tat of the monkey’s little drum as he plays a haunted song.
Perkins wrote the screenplay for The Monkey, based on King’s short story.

Ian McCulloch and James Wan have joined forces to bring us Teacup. It’s very loosely based on the Robert McCammon novel Stinger.
We actually get more of a character-driven horror, and we’re thrown straight in with the characters. We get to know what they know about the genre elements, and that keeps everything suspenseful. I had to start the interview with McCulloch asking about this decision to put us into the horror.
He made it very clear that this decision was intentional. It helped to bring the horror to life, and that’s what he wanted to do.
I never want the audience to know any more than our characters, because ten you’re just waiting for the characters to catch up. So putting them in the same brain space and thought process as the characters is exactly what we want, because we need you to care about the characters.

There’s something really weird going on in the rural Georgia community that’s the setting for Peacock’s new horror series Teacup. The eight-episode series follows a small group of people who find themselves trapped by a mysterious threat.
Loosely based on Robert McCammon’s novel Stinger, Teacup stars Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale), Scott Speedman (You), and Chaske Spencer (Marvel’s Echo) as Ruben Shanley. Strahovski, Speedman, and Spencer took part in Peacock’s first San Diego Comic-Con panel for the show in July 2024. Following the panel, the cast and showrunner Ian McCulloch participated in roundtable interviews to dive deeper into what viewers can expect when Teacup premieres on October 10, 2024.

Following the panel, the cast and showrunner Ian McCulloch participated in roundtable interviews to dive deeper into what viewers can expect when Teacup premieres on October 10, 2024.

After a series of lengthy delays, Warner Bros. and New Line's remake (or re-adaptation) of Stephen King's Salem's Lot is now streaming on Max, and a first look at this latest take on the novel's head vampire, Kurt Barlow, has leaked online.
In the book, Barlow was described as a fairly ordinary-looking middle-aged man, but the character was reimagined as a bald, pale Nosferatu-inspired monster for Tobe Hooper's '70s miniseries. Then, in the 2004 adaptation, the late Rutger Hauer played an interpretation of the evil vampire that was a lot more faithful to the source material.
As you can see from the image below, this new Barlow takes at least some inspiration from the creature we met in the original miniseries - though this version is even more monstrous-looking.

The Peacock streaming service recently announced that the first two episodes of the James Wan-produced series Teacup, which is an adaptation of the 1988 bestseller Stinger, written by Robert R. McCammon (pick up a copy Here), are set to premiere on October 10th… and if you’re wondering why the TV series has a different title than the novel source material, it turns out there’s a very good reason for that. Yellowstone consulting producer Ian McCulloch is a writer and executive producer on the show, in addition to being the showrunner, and he told SFX magazine that the show only really adapts the spirit of McCammon’s novel.
McCulloch said, “I think that if I had read the book as a teenager when it came out, I might have felt a little more beholden to it. This is a very different kind of adaptation in that it’s really...

Writer, producer, and showrunner Ian McCulloch (Yellowstone) will be the first to tell you that “Teacup,” Peacock‘s upcoming horror mystery series executive produced by James Wan, draws very little from the novel that inspired it, Robert McCammon’s Stinger. Stepping foot on set in Atlanta, Georgia earlier this summer only reinforced how drastically different the new series will be from its ’80s action horror novel origins.
The first two episodes of Atomic Monster and UCP’s series “Teacup“ premiere on Peacock Thursday, October 10, followed by two episodes weekly through Halloween, delivering a puzzle box of strange happenings, human drama, and more body horror than you’d expect.
The first drastic departure from McCammon’s novel is its new setting: rural Georgia. Stinger, initially published in 1988, takes place in a town called Inferno, Texas, and blends sci-fi, horror, and western genres together for a wild, otherworldly siege amidst racial tensions...

Stephen King wasn’t setting out to reinvent the vampire story with Salem’s Lot. The RoboCop franchise kicked off in 1987, and while neither the sequels nor 2014's reboot managed to live up to that cult classic, interest in the franchise among fans remains high. The gloriously ultraviolent RoboCop: Rogue City video game is proof of that!

We all know RoboCop's Prime Directives: Serve the public trust, protect the innocent, uphold the law. But soon we'll be discovering RoboCop's Prime Video Directives, as Amazon's upcoming TV series based on the iconic sci-fi franchise continues to build up a head of steam. Per Deadline's reporting, The Office US and Pushing Daisies veteran Peter Ocko has been tapped to write, showrun, and executive produce the prospective new series, with Conjuring universe creator James Wan also aboard to EP under his Atomic Monster banner.

It’s now been ten years since the most recent installment in the RoboCop franchise, that film of course being the 2014 remake, but the property certainly hasn’t gone anywhere in the years since. For starters, video game RoboCop: Rogue City released last year, and the comprehensive documentary series RoboDoc was released onto Screambox last year as well.
Deadline now reports today that Amazon MGM Studios is moving forward with their planned RoboCop television series, with horror master James Wan on board to executive produce.
Wan will produce through his label Atomic Monster.

That’s what the trailer for Teacup, the forthcoming Peacock series from horror mastermind James Wan, wants you to know.
In the trailer (below) for the horror-thriller starring Yvonne Strahovski (Handmaid’s Tale) and Scott Speedman (Grey’s Anatomy), a boy (Caleb Dolden) goes on a walk and is seemingly changed forever by what he’s seen.
“He says we’re trapped,” he tells Strahovski’s character. Who? “The man in my head. We need to hide… because it’s coming. And it kills everything that gets in its way.”
The two minute-plus first look at Teacup is eerily set to Harry Nilsson’s “Think About Your Troubles.” The animals are scared. Yesterday, horrormeister Stephen King tweeted: “Salem’S Lot trailer is coming. It’s a good one.” And now that the trailer has arrived, it’s confirmed King was telling the truth. There’s a lot packed into the two-minute trailer, and it effectively captures the creepy, suspenseful, and terrifying vibe.
The film stars Lewis Pullman as Ben Mears, Alfre Woodard as Dr. Cody, Makenzie Leigh as Susan Norton, and Bill Camp as Matthew Burke. Spencer Treat Clark plays Mike Ryerson, Pilou Asbæk is Straker, and John Benjamin Hickey is Father Callahan.
“Author Ben Mears returns to his childhood home of Jerusalem’s Lot in search of inspiration for his next book only to discover his hometown is being preyed upon by a bloodthirsty vampire,” reads Max’s synopsis. Gary Dauberman (Annabelle Comes Home) adapted Stephen King’s bestselling 1975 novel and directs. Dauberman’s also an executive producer along with Mark Wolper,...

At last, Salem’s Lot is ready to rise again.
New Line Cinema remake of Stephen King’s classic 1975 vampire novel has been given a premiere date on Max.
The film from Gary Dauberman (It, The Nun) writes, directs and executive produces the film, which was originally intended for theaters and was given a 2022 release date. The film was then delayed to 2023, and then was taken off the schedule amid reports that Warner Bros. was looking to release the film on Max due to the streamer’s growing need for content.
In recent weeks, King has tweeted about the film’s mysterious delay “Between you and me, Twitter, I’ve seen the new Salem’S Lot and it’s quite good. Old-school horror filmmaking: slow build, big payoff. Not sure why WB is holding it back; not like it’s embarrassing, or anything. Who knows. I just write the fucking things.
