Montana Desparado
coltras3525 February 2024
After the fourth tenant has been murdered on his ranch, Dave Borden (Johnny Mack Brown) is accused of the slayings but cleared. A neighboring rancher is also murdered by a mysterious masked rider, and his daughter Sally Wilson (Virginia Herrick) inherits his ranch.

Montana Desparado is a neat, swift moving western featuring a masked desperado who is systematically killing off local ranchers, and, of course, Johnny Mack Brown arrives to catch the fiend, which he does by using his cunning mind. It's a sort of a mystery-thriller and an entertaining one, although working out the identity of the killer was a no-brainer, especially because there isn't enough suspects or red herrings. The short running time nixes that opportunity and the focus is more on an action. There's a nice isolated atmosphere with the rugged scenery adding to the suspense.
