Sex & Nudity

  • Several romantic kisses between main characters.

Violence & Gore

  • Dead body is seen, having been stabbed through the heart. An accidental killing is seen where man falls after a punch onto the floor, fracturing a fragile skull. A mobster's honchos beat up a policeman; he ends up with a black eye and facial cuts. Later, his crew shoots the same cop in the arm. Lots of implied crime, not much blood.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Liquor and cigarettes are consumed as was normal for the era. The mobster continually uses an inhaler; this was evidently to imply drug use. Reportedly, the source material had this character as a drug addict but this wouldn't pass the movie censors of the day.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger but it can be read as exonerating and ultimately a win for the protagonist (One would hope he might serve a short jail sentence for the coverup and be reunited with the romantic interest ultimately).
