Quotes

  • Mr. Lannington : So you're quite sure of your feelings? I mean, you know, people sometimes get... carried away. Come to their senses again with a jolt.

Jeff Cameron : Mr. Lannington, I want to marry your daughter.

Mr. Lannington : I wish you'd stop calling her my daughter. She happens to be my wife.

  • Jeff Cameron : [drinking a cocktail in a tropical-themed restaurant]  These things are like water.

Waiter : They creep up on you.

Jeff Cameron : Bring me a couple more.

Waiter : But, sir, you have four and we are only allowed two to a customer.

    Jeff Cameron : Why?

Waiter : That drink makes a guy talk back to his mother-in-law.

Jeff Cameron : What about his father-in-law?

    Waiter : I suppose so.

Jeff Cameron : You've given me an idea.

  • Jeff Cameron : [rubbing his head]  My head hurts. Feels like it's exploding.

    [looking out the car window]

Jeff Cameron : Aren't we going pretty fast?

Margo : We *need* to go fast.

  • Jeff Cameron : Look, I want you, not the money.

Margo : Money can help. It'd be awfully tough for a young doctor, Jeff.

Jeff Cameron : I've aged considerably in the last five minutes.

Margo : Poverty's sordid. If you were broke...

Jeff Cameron : I will be, I promise you.

  • Margo : I won't leave you. I'll be with you always.

Jeff Cameron : Yeah. Well, 'always' won't be for long if we don't get rid of this car.

  • Jeff Cameron : It all fits in, all the symptoms. I didn't fall in love with a woman - I fell in love with a patient.

  • [repeated lines]

Jeff Cameron : [to a stray cat]  Hello, kitty.

  • Margo : [as their ride across the border to Mexico looks imminent]  Darling, there's nothing more to worry about.

Jeff Cameron : We've got *everything* to worry about.

Margo : What, Jeff? Money? You don't know. There's thousands for us in a bank in Mexico City. In my name. "Margo Lyncott." My maiden name, Jeff. And it's *my* signature.

    Jeff Cameron : I don't understand this.

Margo : It was his heart. His heart was so bad. And he was working against me. You saw that. I was afraid he'd change his will. So I put his money away - every week, every month - for years. Everything is breaking for us now!

  • [last lines]

Jeff Cameron : [from his hospital bed after learning that he will be all right]  Can I send flowers to San Francisco?

Dr. Matthews : [nodding positively]  I think so.

Jeff Cameron : [reaching for a prewritten piece of paper underneath his pillow and handing it to the doctor]  Wait a minute. Here's the address.

Dr. Matthews : [to Jeff as he opens the door to walk out of the room]  This should be an easy prescription to fill.

Julie Dorn : [as the doctor has just walked out into the hallway knowing she was there waiting]  How is he, doctor?

Dr. Matthews : Well enough to send you flowers.

    Julie Dorn : Flowers?

Dr. Matthews : [handing her the paper]  Just one.

Julie Dorn : [smiling as she reads the order]  A white rose. He he well enough to have visitors?

Dr. Matthews : Just one. You.

[Julie smiles as she walks to then opens the closed door]
