Bugs Bunny's line: "Arise, Duke of Brittingham!" is an in-joke regarding the bar Brittingham's across the street from the Warner Brothers cartoon studio. According to writer Lloyd Turner in an interview with Mike Barrier, fellow cartoon writer Tedd Pierce was such a frequent customer that Turner said he "lived there."
Errol Flynn appears at the end as Robin Hood in a clip from The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938). "Rabbit Hood" is included as a special feature in the Warner Blu-ray of the movie.
According to Eric Goldberg's commentary on the DVD, Bugs asks the Sheriff of Nottingham if he is a veteran because many WW2 veterans had trouble obtaining housing loans.
The many titles Bugs bestows on the Sheriff are name gags: sirloin of beef, oil (Earl) of clove, essence of myrrh, and milk of magnesia.
