Instead of a direct sequel, Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney should star in a new rom-com together for continued success. Similar to Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan reuniting in You've Got Mail after Sleepless in Seattle, Powell and Sweeney should reunite in a different rom-com. Anyone but You 2 doesn't need a sequel, but Powell and Sweeney could still utilize their chemistry in another rom-com.
Anyone but You was a massive box office hit for lead actors Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, but their success shouldn’t be followed up with a direct sequel to this story. Alice Glass has released new song “Suffer and Swallow,” the first single from her upcoming debut album, due out later this year.

Patricia Morison, who starred as shrewish diva Lilli Vanessi in the original 1948 Broadway production of “Kiss Me, Kate” as well as Anna Leonowens in the 1954 run of “The King and I” opposite Yul Brynner, died of natural causes in her Los Angeles home Sunday. She was 103.
Morison was born on March 15, 1915 in New York City, the daughter of playwright and actor William Morison and Selena Fraser, a British Intelligence agent during World War I. After graduating from high school, Morison took acting classes at the Neighborhood Playhouse and made her stage debut at the Provincetown Playhouse in the musical revue “Don’t Mind the Rain.” Her Broadway debut followed shortly, in 1933’s “Growing Pains,” though she never appeared on stage, instead acting as the stand-by for Helen Hayes in the lead role of Victoria Regina.

"Without love, what reason is there for anything?" What a year. Admittedly, it's always a challenge for me to put together a Top 10 list, just because there's never enough time to watch (and rewatch) everything. That said, I fell head-over-heels in love with a number of movies in 2016 and it was easy to put them on this list. I learned so much from my Favorite Films of 2016. Paterson taught me to love poetry (and write some of my own). La La Land reminded me that dancing is the key to life, and jazz is awesome. Captain Fantastic taught me to always seek the truth. Pete's Dragon reminded me that sometimes we must believe in magic. I'm invigorated by how much movies often affect me, and the more emotional I get, the more I love them. For my Top 12 of 2015 list, topped by George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road and...

Did anyone else get major Victorious flashbacks from Ariana Grande during Hairspray Live! on Wednesday?
PhotosHairspray Live! Performances: Grade ‘Em All!
Before she was topping the charts and getting nominated for Grammys, Grande was killing it on Nickelodeon as one of kid-tv’s most beloved sidekicks (with the lowest Iq), Cat Valentine — and those years of practice paid off in spades during NBC’s live musical.
Whether she was sparring with her mother (Difficult People‘s Andrea Martin!), or following Tracy like a lost (and very confused) puppy, Grande managed to squeeze the most out of every moment — without stealing the spotlight from her co-stars.

"Without love, what reason is there for anything?" Bleecker Street Media & Amazon Studios have debuted a trailer for one of the best films this year - Jim Jarmusch's Paterson. I totally adore this film, I saw it twice at the Cannes Film Festival because I loved it so much, and it'll definitely be in my Top 10. Paterson stars Adam Driver as a humble bus driver living in Paterson, New Jersey with his wife, played by the wonderful Golshifteh Farahani. During his free time he writes poems, and it turns out he's immensely talented even though he doesn't really realize it. I wrote in my glowing review in Cannes that the film is "poetic perfection, superbly realized. Cinema at its very finest." This also stars William Jackson Harper and Masatoshi Nagase. Be warned - this trailer shows way Too much of the film, but it's still worth seeing no matter what.

Lucille Ball: The glamour look. Cate Blanchett to play Lucille Ball: Actress won Oscar for incarnating Ball's fellow Rko contract player Katharine Hepburn Two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett is reportedly slated to star in a biopic of former Rko and MGM actress and big-time television comedienne Lucille Ball. Aaron Sorkin, Oscar winner for David Fincher's The Social Network, will be responsible for the screenplay. According to Entertainment Weekly, the Lucille Ball film biopic will focus on Ball's two-decade marriage to her I Love Lucy costar Desi Arnaz. In 1960, the couple had an acrimonious divorce that supposedly “shocked” clueless fans unable to tell the difference between TV reality and real-life reality. Their children, Desi Arnaz Jr. and Lucie Arnaz, had modest acting careers in film and on TV in the '70s and '80s. As per the EW.com report, they're both producing the planned Lucille Ball biopic.

Love makes us do some crazy things.
Wait, let me rephrase that.
Actual craziness makes us do crazy things, but when love is added to the equation, craziness morphs into a toxic venom that becomes an inescapable nightmare. Without love in the picture, we’re able to think rationally and act with swift intelligence, but when you love someone, you strive to find alternative answers to the obvious actions that would spell an end to any relationship. It’s human nature. Think back to any shitty relationship you’ve found yourself in, and remember the laundry list of excuses you came up with in your starry-eyed, smitten state. Hindsight, am I right or what?
Those feelings only begin to describe the horror that emerges from Saverio Costanzo’s Hungry Hearts, a familial thriller based on Marco Franzoso’s jarring novel. Adam Driver and Alba Rohrwacher play a loving couple (Jude and Mina) who,...

Don’t think Jack Antonoff, who now moonlights as the frontman of Bleachers, is the only member of fun. taking some me-time during the band’s break from touring and recording. Now frontman Nate Ruess is here with a brand new song and video for “Nothing Without Love” from his solo project. Related: fun. Aren’t Breaking Up, They’re Just Not Inspired to Work Together Right Now But while Bleachers finds Antonoff heading in slightly different directions than that of his usual band (think Springsteen to the max), Ruess’ new song is fairly typical of his usual band, though part of that is owed to the singer’s voice being all over the song. Melodically and instrumentally, Ruess is in his wheelhouse, particularly with the theatrics on the choir-backed post-chorus breakdown. In the clip, Ruess is first found floating, head barely above the water, singing the tune’s chorus a cappella.

Episode 25 of 52: In which Kate confronts Angela Lansbury onscreen and the Blacklist offscreen and manages to beat both.
Early on, I stated that sometimes Kate’s career seems charmed. I’d venture 1948 is one of those charmed years. As we saw last week, Song of Love failed--Kate’s first failure at MGM. Yet some strange circumstances and good luck landed Kate in State of the Union, based on a Pulitzer Prize-winning play. I say “good luck” because in the fall of 1947, the storm that would become the Hollywood Blacklist was brewing, and Kate nearly got caught in the center of it.
Though not as cloyingly obvious as Mr. Smith Goes to Washington - no light from the Lincoln Memorial in this film - State of the Union nevertheless delivers the classic Capra Corn package: nostalgia, patriotism, and a happy ending snatched from the jaws of tragedy at the last second.

Episode 21 of 52 of Anne Marie's chronological look at Katharine Hepburn's career.
When a star’s career is as long-lasting and iconic as Katharine Hepburn’s was, there are going to be dramatic highs and lows in terms of quality. Mapped out on a timeline, it would resemble a mountain range. The glittering Mount Holiday would stand tall on the horizon, dwarfed on either side by Bringing Up Baby Peak and The Philadelphia Story Summit. Behind it would be the dark valleys and caves of Rko. However, the most treacherous topographical feature on our Atlas Hepburnica would be the Seven Year Desert, stretching seemingly endlessly from Woman of the Year Peak to Adam’s Rib Ridge. The Seven Year Desert is a vast sea of grass that barrages a traveler with its unending, monotonous mediocrity. Woe to the weary wanderer who gives up, rather than trudge through another undistinguished Hepburn vehicle.

Demi Lovato isn't even a child of the '80s, but her Saint Laurent dress suggests otherwise. We felt like we were watching an episode of Dynasty the minute we saw this sharp shoulder on the "Without Love" singer. And if that weren't enough, it's covered in a geometric silver chain motif typical of the most opulent era. We wouldn't mind the throwback style quite so much if not for the totally teased, blonde hair. We miss many elements of the decade that brought us Wigwam socks and the power suit but this hair is not one of them...

Actors are trained to be able to portray just about anything their role calls for, but there's one thing even the best actors can't possibly fake: Singing.
That's why we're always so impressed when actors sing on screen rather than just lip-synch some professional musician. Case in point: Next week's "Pitch Perfect," which features stars such as Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson belting out tunes like the divas they were meant to be.

As a single person of a certain age and disposition, I find the flagrantly commercial aspects of Valentine's Day to be completely repulsive. (Which may, of course, help explain my "not in a relationship" status.) In any event, I'm definitely not inclined toward romantic comedies on this day, especially, yet Jun Kang's short film Just in Time for Love (or, "Without Love I Am LARPing") feels genuinely honest and charming to me. For one thing, it's shot in black and white; for another, it wears its Woody Allen influences on its sleeve (titles, music, comic style, and so forth); for another, it makes Dallas, my current hometown, look very good indeed; and for another, it made me laugh, which very few movies about time...

Unlike Robert Taylor, who would have turned 100 today, or Ginger Rogers, whose centennial was last July 16, Lucille Ball is actually going to be remembered on the occasion of what would have been her 100th birthday this Saturday, August 6. Turner Classic Movies' "Summer Under the Stars" series continues with 14 Lucille Ball movies. All of them have been shown before on TCM. [Lucille Ball Movie Schedule.] As an actress working mostly at Rko (1935-42) and at MGM (1943-46), Lucille Ball has been a TCM regular, as the Time Warner library encompasses films made at those two studios. On Saturday, TCM will also show the United Artists' release Lured, a crime drama directed by Douglas Sirk, and co-starring George Sanders, and two comedies Ball made during her tenure at Columbia in the late '40s: Miss Grant Takes Richmond (1949), co-starring William Holden, and The Fuller Brush Girl (1950), a reboot of The Fuller Brush Man (1948), which starred Red Skelton.

Anaheim, Calif. — They shared a stage at Disneyland five days a week for nearly three decades and died within a day of each other.
Betty Taylor, who played Slue Foot Sue in Disney's long-running Golden Horseshoe Revue, passed away Saturday – one day after the death of Wally Boag, who played her character's sweetheart, Pecos Bill.
The 91-year-old Taylor died at her home in Washington state, Disneyland announced on its web site. Boag, who was 90, died Friday. He was a resident of Santa Monica, Calif.
The causes of death were not announced and attempts to contact relatives for comment were not immediately successful.
"Betty's role as leading lady in Disneyland's Golden Horseshoe Revue helped turn it into the longest-running stage show in entertainment history," George Kalogridis, the president of Disneyland Resort, said in a statement. `'It is a tragic coincidence that her passing comes just one day after the death of longtime co-star Wally Boag.

Chicago – We cover hundreds of Blu-rays and DVDs at HollywoodChicago.com every year and most are of the current variety, so it’s always nice to see a well-presented catalog title, a collection that makes a better gift for the classic movie lover in your family than, say, “Little Fockers” or “Yogi Bear.” Fans of Turner Classic Movies will love “Tracy & Hepburn: The Definitive Collection,” a solid 10-disc set eight movies, some of them great, and a fantastic tribute to a celluloid legend.
DVD Rating: 4.0/5.0
The dynamic between Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn was always one of my favorites because it was never flashy. There wasn’t the steam heat of a pair like Bacall & Bogart or the tempestuousness of Burton & Taylor. There seemed to be a mutual admiration between the two Oscar winners that subtly made its way to the screen in classics like “Woman of the Year,” “Adam’s Rib,...

After the massive success of Sgt. Bilko, creator Nat Hiken moved on to birth another of my absolute favorite comedies, Car 54, Where Are You? (Shanachie, Not Rated, DVD-$39.98 Srp). It’s been one of those shows whose arrival on DVD I’ve long wished for, and the wait was worth it, as the first season has been mastered from the original 35mm prints, and looks better than it’s ever been.

A look at what's new on DVD this week:
"A Summer in Genoa"
Directed by Michael Winterbottom
Released by Entertainment One
Of the many films Michael Winterbottom ("A Mighty Heart," "9 Songs") has directed in recent years, you wouldn't guess the one starring recent Oscar winner Colin Firth as a father who must take care of his two daughters in the wake of a car accident involving their mother (Hope Davis) would be the one to have trouble making it to the U.S. But here we are three years after "Genova," as it's known in much of the rest of the world, was shot and it's finally arrived on DVD, a mix of supernatural thriller and human drama that's actually getting reasonably good reviews upon its delayed release. Catherine Keener co-stars.

Tracy and Hepburn the Definitive Collection I've mentioned this collection twice in the last two weeks in my Sunday What I Watched columns and I know I will be mentioning it again this week after watching Keeper of the Flame. Suffice to say, considering everything releasing this week this nine film collection is my top pick.
For anyone that's seen The Adjustment Bureau and fell in love with the chemistry between Matt Damon and Emily Blunt, this is a release for you as Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn had a chemistry unlike any other and this set puts it all on display. Now I won't say every film included is a winner, but I will say Hepburn and Tracy make a film hard not to enjoy.
The great thing about this collection is Warner Home Video was able to...

Film, TV and literature is filled with dark visions of the future, full of oppressive state control and bad weather. Here are 10 of the most disturbing…
Why are we so drawn to dystopian visions of our future? There’s something compelling about these gritty, dirty, hopeless settings of oppressive state control that keeps us coming back to them time and time again in books, film and TV. If the appeal of fiction, especially speculative fiction, is meant to be escapism, then why would we want to escape to such an unpleasant scenario?
It’s probably schadenfreude. We see the poor downtrodden masses and think, “There but for the grace of random fluctuations in the space/time continuum go I”. It’s always fascinating to examine the dark side of human nature, and studying the effects of power’s corrupting influence on mankind is always particularly interesting.

Happy Valentines Day Quotes! What to Write in a Valentine's Day card love note -- [Feb. 13] Happy Valentines Day! Actress Eva Gabor once said, "love is a game that two can play but both can win..." and she was right. Quotes written in a love note can let your sweetheart know just how you feel, while using a famous quote from a book, movie quote, love quote, romantic sayings, or love poem. Quotes about Valentine's Day are often simply Love Quotes that talk about the word love and what it means to love someone. Shared from the heart in a love note says, "Happy Valentine's Day" to that special someone. Be My Valentine, Happy Valentines Day, and I love you are often times already written inside commercial greeting cards or on paper valentines you buy from your local card shop, Hallmark, or drug store. Adding Friendship Quotes, love quotes, quotes about married life,...

Without love there is nothing. One of the many films premiering at Sundance starting this week is one called Perfect Sense, a romantic "thriller" of sorts staring Ewan McGregor and Eva Green. Like many films at the fest, I don't know much about this, but MTV debuted an early trailer for it and it looks phenomenal, so much so that I had to stop watching (so as to not ruin any of it). The concept involves "what it means to love and be loved in these turbulent times." It looks like a charming romance about two people who do find love in these otherwise crazy times. This looks gorgeously shot and riveting for a romance. Can't wait to see this! Watch the first trailer for David Mackenzie's Perfect Sense: Falling in love isn't the easiest thing in the world, especially when that world is coming apart at the seams.

With two of the biggest names on the international club circuit —Grammy nominee Bob Sinclar and Swiss DJ Yves Larock — and Danish pop act Michael Learns to Rock (Mltr) slated to perform in the Capital in the coming weeks, June couldn’t get any hotter. Larock, the man behind hits such as Rise Up, and Without Love, will take the stage in Delhi on Friday night at the Hard Rock Café (Hrc) in Saket. Confirming the news, a spokesperson for Hrc said, “Both Larock and Sinclar will be performing in the city as a part of our month long anniversary ...

The high altitudes of Park City, Ut -- home to the Sundance Film Festival -- have been known to cause dehydration, insomnia and an overappreciation of certain independent movies. What sparks standing ovations and multi-million dollar acquisitions in the rarefied confines of the snowbound town doesn't always carry over into the outside world. For every "The Blair Witch Project," "Super Size Me" or "Precious," there's a "Hustle and Flow," "Hounddog" or "Hamlet 2." Where do you draw the line between hype and reality, sleep deprivation-induced passing crush or bona fide true love? A really great film that will resonate with niche (or even mainstream) audiences, or one that happens to provide the weary festivalgoer adequate satisfaction when compared with all the muck? Here's a little Sundance soothsaying about how four festival hits might fare when they arrive at a theater near you.
