Beach House have brought their new five-song EP, Become, to streaming services. Listen below.
Become was originally released as a Record Store Day exclusive on April 22nd. Along with its digital release today, the EP will receive a wider physical release on vinyl and CD come Friday, May 19th.
The collection comprises songs that didn’t make it on the dream pop band’s 2022 double album Once Twice Melody. “We didn’t think they fit in the world of Otm, but later realized they all fit in a little world of their own,” the band say in a press release. “To us, they are all kind of scuzzy and spacious, and live in the spirit realm. It’s not really where we are currently going, but it’s definitely somewhere we have been. We hope you enjoy these tunes.”

If you are into martial arts films, especially those produced by Shaw Brothers Studios in the late 70s, the Flying Guillotine would probably be your favorite weapon from the Qing Dynasty. It looks very much like a hat with a netting full of razor sharp blades in the rim and there is a long chain attached to it. The skillful wielder or assassin throws it from a distance onto someone's head and with a pull of the chain, the blades circle in and cut the poor victim's head clean off. It is a very effective way to kill and besides it is quiet and almost impossible to defend against.
Though associated with Emperor Yung Cheng and his elite squad of assassins during the Qing Dynasty, no one really knows if such a device actually existed. But this deadly legendary Chinese killing machine sure looks great flying across the silver screens...

It's been just over two years since Jesy Nelson made the decision to leave Little Mix in order to focus on her mental health. Despite the girl band selling over 60 million records worldwide and dominating the charts with hits like "Shout Out to my Ex" and "Black Magic," the foursome became three in December 2020. And Nelson has explained in a new interview with The Sun that she hasn't spoken to her former bandmates Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock ever since.
"I will say this always, your mental health is the most important thing. You only live once so sometimes you have to stop and look after yourself. I needed support and help to overcome that, and there wasn't the time while I was in the band," she says. "I don't have regrets because I had to do what was right for me and I will always cherish the...

Contemporary Story Will Feature Martial Arts, Black Magic & Warrior Witches Yeah, we know, the amount of "The Wizard Of Oz" projects in development is already well on this side of ridiculous but it appears that any idea is a good idea in Hollywood, so why not one more. "Corpse Bride" co-director Mike Johnson has been hired on to helm "Oz Wars." The stop-motion animated film will feature a contemporary setting, warrior witches, black magic, martial arts and monsters. Far out! But with a script by Rob Moreland ("Space Chimps," "Happily 'N Ever After") and Athena Gam we're not exactly…...

In the early 1950s, the specter of horror comics cut a significant swath through America's youth.
The lurid nature of these books and the violence and terror they contained were blamed for everything from juvenile delinquency to the spread of Communism. In fact, the popularity of horror comics among kids of the era was a major reason for the 1954 creation of the Comics Code Authority, essentially a comics industry censorship code similar to the Hays Code instituted by Hollywood in 1930. Sadly, this industry-regulated code was largely responsible for the almost total eradication of this grisly genre of comic.
Although EC Comics is the company usually associated with '50s horror comic books, it actually only produced a small fraction of the horror comics published at the time. The rest of these gruesomely frightening funny books were created by a variety of smaller companies whose output has been largely forgotten and...

Four Torches (Out of Five) As much as we try here at TheTorchOnline.com to be aware of fantasy-themed entertainment in all media, we've never covered much pop music. How can pop music be "fantasy-themed" anyway? Well, consider the European singing duo The Green Children, who released their debut CD last week, Encounter. With songs like "Dragons" and "Black Magic," and a whole medieval vibe in their image and videos, they're definitely pushing something they call "cinematic fantasy pop." The inside of the CD, for example, has the two of them dressed in white and paired with a white owl and a white wolf. Is this some kind of gimmick? Well, of course, it's a gimmick!

Filmmaker Gregory (Slime City Massacre) Lamberson also has a successful side job writing the horror novel series The Jake Helman Files. Volume One, Personal Demons, is getting a sequel, entitled Desperate Souls, which is being released as a trade paperback on October 1st.
Published by Medallion Press, The Jake Helman Files already has two more volumes, Cosmic Forces and Tortured Spirits, set for completion in 2011 and 2012, respectively. In addition, occult detective Helman is poised to enter other media.
From the Press Release:
“This is my big, ongoing project,” says Lamberson, whose werewolf novel The Frenzy Way was published in June and whose new film Slime City Massacre (review here) is currently playing on the film festival circuit with a DVD release in the wings. “I originally wrote Personal Demons as a screenplay back in 1989, but the story was way too big for the kind of budget I’m able to raise as an indie filmmaker.

50 Cent is considering scrapping his upcoming album because he has grown tired of his new dance sound. The rapper embraced a new musical direction for "Black Magic", due for release later this year, with many tracks inspired by the upbeat European nightclub hits which he discovered during a recent promotional tour of the continent.
But 50 Cent has grown less fond of his work since returning to his native U.S. and is now considering ditching his dance album in favor of a more traditional rap record. He tells Rolling Stone Brazil, "I've written an album that's called Black Magic, but I am not sure it will be my next album. Since I've made it back to America after recording in the U.K. and different territories since I was on the road, I started writing different material that don't (sic) quite fit that concept."

Putting together an album can be a grueling experience, especially for rappers. Nailing the delicate chemistry required to match the music to the concept can be psychologically taxing, and at the end of the day, all you have to go by are your thoughts and inspirations. Many artists compare crafting an album to child birth, and while it is a joyous occasion, there is plenty of pain, discomfort and change involved any time anybody steps into a studio.
So it's always a little bit remarkable that some artists will leave entire albums behind for the sake of some other project. 50 Cent is the latest such artist to shelve a nearly-complete album, as he revealed that he thinks he might leave the experimental Black Magic behind in favor of a more traditional hip-hop album. Along the way, he has been putting together music for an album called Black Magic, which was going to find 50 pulling in a number of different genres and influences (most notably from dance and rock music). There's been a bit of confusion about what 50 Cent's next album, Black Magic, might sound like. After initially saying the record was inspired by dance beats he heard at a nightclub in Europe, 50 explained that the disc will still be hip-hop, but with a twist.
Fans might get a chance to hear what he's talking about starting May 28, when 50 will launch The Invitation Tour at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland. The monthlong, 19-date outing will take him across the country to mid-size theaters before winding up with a June 25 show at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Though some people got it twisted when he initially said he was inspired by more uptempo dance music on the disc, which doesn't have a release date yet, 50 quickly clarified what he meant.

50 Cent opened up to MTV about his plan to add new faces to his label, G-Unit. Although he didn't mention who will become the new addition of the label, the rapper did say he would love to sign movie hunk Robert Pattinson.
"Robert Pattinson. He has a big enough following to be the frontline," the rap mogul said of the British heartthrob who sings and co-writes two songs in the first installment of "Twilight" movie series. He added, " 'Twilight' ain't no joke."
Beside talking about new talent which caught his attention, 50 Cent also discussed his next studio album. He revealed, "I kind of planned on releasing 'Black Magic' ... I gave myself a goal to try and put it out by the end of the summer, so I'll work that hard on the actual project. If I don't feel it's ready by the end of the summer, I'll just jeep it.

50 Cent wants Robert Pattinson to join his rap group G-Unit. The hip-hop star thinks the "Twilight" heartthrob, who has previously contributed songs to the movie franchise's soundtrack, would be a great addition to the band because he would attract so many female fans. When asked whom he would like to join his band, he said, "Robert Pattinson. He has a big enough following to be the frontline. 'Twilight' ain't no joke."
50 is looking for new G-Unit members to tour with him this summer because his regular bandmates Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo are busy with their own musical projects. He added to MTV, "It's interesting because they probably won't be coming with me. In the U.S., Banks has momentum with the first single off his new album, 'Beamer, Benz or Bentley.' "
"So he'll be out on his own tour. While he's doing that, it probably wouldn't make sense...

It's been a while since we had Curtis Jackson around these parts in Mixtape Daily. Our fellow Queens native has been on the road for a while, making movies and touring overseas. While hollering at our colleagues at MTV UK, Fif revealed that he wants his Black Magic album to drop before summer is over — oh, and the title has nothing to do with witchcraft.
"I don't believe in voodoo," he said. "But it'll be very addictive. The first time you'll hear it, you'll remember the songs that's on there. It's designed for fun — for listening pleasure.

Earlier this week, an overseas interview with 50 Cent hit the Web in which he said his upcoming LP, Black Magic, would have a different feel.
"I went to a nightclub afterparty," 50 told reporter Jonas Pettersen. "It's a little different music going on before I got there. They play your music when you come. But the music they played before they started playing a lot of what I created was more uptempo, more dance. I wanted to make a song like that. So I went into the studio. Because I'm traveling with my live band, I took my band with me and sequenced it and recorded the actual record while I was out there. I did two other songs I had production for. I had...

50 Cent who is currently touring across Europe has dished on what to expect from his next studio album. Apparently being aware of what becomes today's music trend, the rap mogul said in a recent interview that he will make up-beat music for the new record.
On what made him going to that direction, the G-Unit rapper shared he was so inspired by music he heard in the European clubs while touring in the continent. "I went to a nightclub after-party. It was different music after a while," he gushed. "The music they were playin' before they were playin' the music I created was more up-tempo, more Dance."
"I wanted to make a song like that, so I went into the studio. Because I'm travelin' with my live band, I took the band with me and we sequenced it and recorded the actual record while we was out there," he continued.

Precise, obsessive and turbulent are descriptions of both Holmes and this new reboot. Director Guy Ritchie simplifies his vision to make his most accessable (conventional) movie-to-date...
<!--break-->
Uncomfortable with wasting precious time on exposition, Ritchie slams the audience into an action sequence in the first second involving our historic heroes. Both Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) and Inspector Watson (Jude Law) karate chop and head butt their way through a gang of villainous thugs like two upper-class Power Rangers. Clearly Ritchie is making a statement of his intentions.
Within five minutes we meet Holmes' evil nemesis Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong). He's caught in the middle of a sacrificial killing and sent on the boards to hang. Black Magic is bad, you know. Only after this subsequent hanging, he seems to return from the dead to kill again. Even after Dr. Watson checks his pulse to be missing.
It's century old England but...

Yes gang, once again its time to dip a toe into the waters of Malaysian horror, with - a tale of Satanic possession, obsession and murder - Azhari Mohd Zain’s Santua (aka Black Magic). Malay horror can be a very mixed bag, but from the trailer at least, Zain seems to have mainly steered away from the campness (that intentional or otherwise, effects a lot of local productions) to have a stab at inducing some real scares. Check out the trailer at the link. Synopsis: Halim and his family are blessed with happiness and wealth gained through his own growing business. On top of that, he has an understanding wife Nina who stands by his side and a lovely daughter named Tuti. Near Halim's home, there is an empty house. Ever since the neighbour moved out from that house, Tuti has seen mysterious and unsettling things, and Nina begins...

He used to be Beetlejuice and Batman. Now Michael Keaton is a first-time director and a contented man
Michael Keaton is standing in the middle of his London hotel room, transfixed by the widescreen television before him. He holds out the remote control as if he's offering a gift to the gods. The volume goes up, the volume goes down. The image freezes, then fast-forwards. The urge to wrest the handset from him and take charge is overwhelming, and lasts at least until you remember the fabled Keaton temper. ("I'm a good thrower," he once said. "And kicker.") But his doddery behaviour in the face of technology is endearing. Eventually, he hits on the scene he was hunting for. "Wait, you gotta see this," he says breathlessly. "Listen, you hear that song? Oh, man. That's the one we wanted to use but it was too expensive."
