While Tchaikovski's marriage with a woman (Antonina Iwanowna Miljukowa in real life) is a historical fact (which he used to hide his homosexuality), it happened in 1877, not in 1865, as in the movie.
Through the movie Tchaikovski is portrayed as an avid ball visitor. However he wasn't like that and was more melancholic.
Through the movie various compositions of Tchaikovski are set in a wrong time period. While the first part of the movie is set in 1865 the Trepak dance from "The Nutcracker" is played, which was released in 1892. The Romance op. 5 was released in 1868. Also Tchaikovski's publisher asked to release the "Capriccio Italien" which, was played later in the movie, was only written in 1880.
Michael Murakin mentioned Nastassia Philipovna and said that this is a character by Dostojevski. The character appeared in Dostojevski's novel "The Idiot" released in 1868-69, 4-5 years after the scene's setting.
