Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : Conway, I don't like this place! It's too mysterious!
-
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : [seeing banquet spread] Well I, I just feel as though I'm being made ready for the executioner.
Barnard : [sniffing foods] Yeah, well if this be execution, lead me to it.
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : That's what they do with cattle, just before the slaughter.
-
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : We'd better make arrangements to get some porters immediately - some means of getting us back to civilization
Chang : Are you so certain you are away from it?
-
George Conway : Well what d'ya want him to do?
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : I don't know - I'm a paleontologist, not a Foreign Secretary.
-
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : I don't know why I'm talking to you. Don't know you. Who are you?
Barnard : Okay, brother.
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : Don't call me brother.
Barnard : Okay, sister.
-
Barnard : Good morning, Lovey.
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : I beg pardon?
Barnard : I say, good morning, Lovey.
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : Good morning. Look here, young man, I didn't care for sister last night and I don't like Lovey this morning. My name is Lovett, Alexander P.
-
Barnard : How 'bout you, Lovey? Come on, let's you and I play a game of honeymoon bridge.
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : Oh, I'm thinking.
Barnard : Thinking? What about some double solitaire?
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : As a matter of fact, I'm very good at double solitaire.
Barnard : No kidding.
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : Yes.
Barnard : Then, I'm your man. Come on, toots!
-
Robert Conway : [on the plane, barely having escaped the gunfire and chaos on the ground at Baskul airport] I guess we're out of range... Is everybody all right?
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : Oh, I don't know... I, I, I've never been in a situation like this in my life.
Robert Conway : Where do you come from?
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : I'm Alexander P. Lovett, sir.
Robert Conway : Why aren't you registered through our office?
George Conway : It'd serve you right to be left behind.
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : How could I know a war was going to break out over my head? Right over my head! Oh, my word! I tell you, those Chinese were pouncing on me from every direction. I had to get into these ridiculous clothes in order to escape.
Robert Conway : Where were you hiding?
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : "Hiding?" Ohh, no, no, no, no. *Hunting.* I was in the interior hunting fossils. This morning I looked up suddenly...
Robert Conway : I know: and a war broke out right over your head!
George Conway : The next time you're in wild country like this, keep in touch with the British consul.
Robert Conway : Very good, Freshie, very good. Here, you'd better put his name on the list and make out a report later.
-
Barnard : I beg your pardon, brother. What did you say you were hunting?
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : Fossils.
Barnard : Fossils, huh?
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : I'm a paleontologist.
Barnard : A what?
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : A paleontologist.
Barnard : Ohhh... I see.
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : I have here a discovery that will startle the world. It's the vertebra from the lumbar of a Megatherium, found in Asia.
Barnard : Well, what do you know about that?
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : Found in Asia. When I get home, I shall probably be knighted for it.
Barnard : Knighted! You don't say! Do you mind if I take a look at it?
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : Oh, not at all... This is the only thing I was able to save when those heathens surrounded me.
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : [takes out a large vertebra bone from a specimen box] You see, from this vertebra, I shall be able to reconstruct the entire skeleton...
Barnard : [interrupting, slightly incredulous] Wait a minute. You expect to be knighted for finding that soup bone?
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : [slightly offended] This is the vertebra of a Megatherium found in Asia.
Barnard : Yeah, I remember. You said that before.
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : Sir Henry Derwent was knighted. He never got beyond the Mesozoic era.
Barnard : [sarcastic] Aww, poor fellow!
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : Yes, it just shows... I don't know why I'm talking to you. I don't know you. Who are you?
Barnard : Okay, brother.
Alexander P. 'Lovey' Lovett : Don't call me "brother."
Barnard : [chuckles] Okay, sister... No offence. No offence.
