- -Stan throws a rock at some would-be tire thieves, and misses. They throw it back, it hits Ollie in the back of the head.
- A street lamp globe falls and smashes over Ollie's head.
- Stan and Ollie fall into a pond multiple times. At one point, a marble bench holds Ollie beneath the water and he appears to be drowning. But he's rescued in time.

- The ending is quite shocking, given the subject matter of the short up until that point. As Stan and Ollie run, the chief fires two shots after them and then tells his boys to "send for the coroner," implying that he just shot Stan and Ollie dead. This makes The Midnight Patrol the only L&H short in which they die at the end.
