- Plenty of slapstick violence, which evolves from a bunch of men becoming entranced, and even obsessed over a jigsaw puzzle. When one piece goes missing, the policeman places everybody under house arrest and threatens searches. When he accidentally shoves the taxi driver too hard, it erupts into fisticuffs. Punches are thrown, furniture is overturned, the messenger is thrown across the room. The place becomes trashed by the end of the short as all the men, sans Stan and Ollie who were hiding, are dragged outside by the police.
- In the end, Ollie has hit rock bottom. The wedding is called off and he loses his money. The final straw is when Stan finds the last piece and affixes it to the puzzle, causing Ollie to throw him out and then kick and throw puzzle pieces all over the place.
- A funeral wreath is delivered to the wedding. Mr. Cucumber takes it, saying, "I might have some use for this."
