Sex & Nudity

  • Some sexual innuendo. Some kissing but nothing more.
  • One woman discusses her "sex appeal."
  • During musical numbers, women are dressed scantily clad. In one number, provocative silhouettes of women getting changed are shown, but there is no actual nudity.
  • A man is undressed by two women down to his underwear and placed put in a woman's bed to make it look like he has slept with her (he is shown alone in the bed though).
  • Is back stage after a show, a male stagehand pats a woman's buttocks as she walks by.
  • Under a table, a woman puts her hand on her male date's knee and he does the same to her, causing her to jolt.
  • An angry woman describes her fellow penniless female showgirls as having to resort to other desperate means to get money.

Profanity

  • 'Shit' can be heard if listened to carefully but there are numerous women speaking during a hubbub. 1 use of stupid, shit, fool, midgets, gosh and sex 2 uses of oh gosh

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • When the composer, thought to be poor, says he can lend money for the show, one of the performers says "What does he use? I'll smoke it too". This is a reference to marijuana use.
  • Some smoking and drinking, as was common during the Depression. One main character gets so drunk he has a bad hangover the next day.
