The policeman in the chase is riding a 1931 Henderson KJ Police motorcycle. MSRP was $435 and it was favored by police departments because it was one of the fastest vehicles on the road, being able to reach 100 mph. In excellent condition in 2020, this motorcycle could be worth $50,000 or more.
The pedestrian tunnel under the street the little car uses during the chase was one of over 100 constructed by Los Angeles in the 1920s and '30s to try and cut down on the number of pedestrian-vehicle accidents. Most have been closed off, because they became dangerous havens for crime in the decades since.
