Second of three films in MGM's pairing of Buster Keaton and Jimmy Durante as a comedy team. The other pictures were The Passionate Plumber (1932) and What-No Beer? (1933).
Three years after its first appearance in The Hollywood Revue of 1929 (1929), the song "Singin' in the Rain" is played and referred to by Jimmy Durante. Although the characters imply the song was famous at the time, it wasn't; Gene Kelly's performing it in Singin' in the Rain (1952) gave it its worldwide fame that continues to this day.
Despite an onscreen copyright statement, a copyright was never registered; the movie is in the Public Domain.
