Gussle and wifey enter a department store; his cane, clumsiness, and wandering eye get him in trouble. Farcical vaudeville bits revolve around ladies' undergarments, the store's payment balls, holes in socks, foot powder, smelly feet, and a fan. Gussle's overtures toward a young woman upset her portly husband (and later Gussle's wife), leading to fisticuffs, mayhem, the arrival of police, and Gussle's attempted getaway with his new love.
