Billed as a cross between The Full Monty and Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, the gritty drama stars former East End gangster Dave Courtney. The film's creator and writer is Mike McCarthy, whose television credits include Boys From The Blackstuff and Spender added: The film is a darkly humorous, gritty drama, but it is not a gangster film and the integrity of greyhound racing is not compromised. The film's plot centres on a ruthless, rich businessman, Gordy Metcalf, who is played by Dave Courtney, who owns the best greyhound in the country. An ex-trainer sets a trap for three young men from a poor estate in North East England, who go on to train a dog which takes on the businessman's greyhound in a match-race at the Peterborough final. And the final is run over Fengate's six bends - hence the film's title.

- The story concerns the relationship between Peter, a 15 year old boy, and Mr Faulkner, an old man whom he befriends. Mr Faulkner used to be a school teacher but had retired after allegations were made about him by a pupil. There was still gossip about him in the town. Mr Faulkner teaches Peter a lot about literature and introduces him to poetry and when Peter returns to school the two of them correspond. The friendship between them is threatened when Peter starts going out with Sue who disapproves of him spending time with the old man. In the end Peter confronts Mr Faulkner with the gossip but he refuses to discuss it. Peter later writes to Mr Faulkner but for the first time does not receive a reply.
- PCs Bradley and Bellamy are on patrol when they are flagged down by Rachel Palmer, who claims that her sister Marianne Fuller has been attacked. Marianne Fuller is rushed to the hospital where she later dies. Meanwhile Rachel Palmer seeks comfort from PC Bradley, and she points the finger at Marianne's husband David although he seems to have an alibi. When sergeant Craddock finds out he has no other choice but to give him a couple of days leave. Gina dreams of winning a trip to Paris, but chances are slim. With Gina's birthday coming up Aunt Mary suggests a surprise party with a French theme.

- Trawlerman Connor Ryan's corpse is recovered from the sea but Eve deduces he died of internal injuries and not drowning. His sister Patsy,the boat's skipper and wife of drunkard Rob Fay, is missing though marine geologist Tom Wilkes,who chartered it is found and claims little recollection of events. Hale suspects the family was into drug smuggling,which Wilkes denies. Mike promises Patsy's young son Robby he will find her though he comes to see that the promise may be hard to keep. Eve and Hale however discover the truth.
