"True Heroes" revolves around the daily lives of a group of police officers and how they reflect the need to act cautiously and advance gradually in order to avoid taking the wrong path in life. The protagonist Junhao (Christopher Ming-Shun Lee) is a righteous and courageous cop who was born into a family of police officers. Junhao graduated with top honours from the police academy and harbours the ambition to join the elite Criminal Investigation Department. He is sorely disappointed when he learns that he has been assigned to a neighbourhood police post. During a big fire, Junhao saves the life of an old lady, earning the adoration of the old lady's granddaughter, Irene (Yvonne Lim). Much to his despair, Irene tries to come between Junhao and his colleague-cum-love-interest, Kexin (Phyllis Quek). On the other hand, Junhao's colleague, Wang Feng (Allan Wu) is unable to get along with Junhao. However, Wang Feng changes his mind about Junhao when the latter saves him during a mission.

He is a senile old man called Qian Lao Shi (Hou Ren Choo) .Thinking that this relative can save her from her financial woes, Mei Ling and her family moves into Lao Shi's house while pretending to care for Lao Shi. Shu Ping hears of this and encourages Ren Jie to move in as well, so that they can rent out their apartment to pay off the mortgage. Instead of helping his "poor" relatives, Lao Shi turns their lives upside down. Can they eventually overcome their misfortunes?

It's the Lunar New Year and everyone at Da Si Mei Coffeeshop gathers for the traditional 'lo hei' (Yusheng). Somewhere beneath this celebratory mood brews the animosity between Yuyan (Qiu Lian Liu) and Aizhen (Tracer Wong), Liu Shen's (Peng Hoy Choy) secret about her ex-secret society son as well as Mingcai's (Richard Low) plot to take over the coffeeshop. However, she too, falls for Shui Lian and the 3 get embroiled in a love triangle. Jin Bao (Nick Shen) is just an idler as his father, Jintu. He does dream of becoming his own boss but he often ends up losing his money. Still, the fighter in him makes him even more determined to succeed. When Lifeng learns that Jin Tu has been going for his social dance sessions at the Community Club to ogle at the pretty teacher, the former leaves for Australia in a fit of anger. As Jin Tu wants to enter the social dance competition, he hands over the management of the coffeeshop to Aizhen. Little does he suspect that the scheming couple already has plans to steal from the coffeeshop. Meanwhile, Jin Hua (Yun Xiang) is back from Hongkong with Wen Juan (Yiliang Huang). Her daughter Stella who has been staying with Jin Tu and family is resentful towards her mother until Wen Juan reveals that she has breast cancer. Jin Bao is conned into investing in Longan trees and he's so convinced that he has hit gold this time, he gets everyone in the coffeeshop too invest as well. When it turns out to be a scam, everyone harasses Jin Tu for compensation, who then dies of shock...Will Jin Bao learns his lesson ? Will be wrestle back the coffeeshop from his uncle Mingcai? Da Wei's crush Xue Li (Ann Kok) returns as well to be a vocal coach at "Crescendo". Since the return of the two, the three friends find themselves embroiled in complicated love affairs. Chu Fan accuses Mei Ling of wrongdoing because of a misunderstanding. Mei Ling feels indignant and is bent on seeking revenge on Chu Fan for hurting her. She vows to destroy "Crescendo" and tries to sow discord between the three friends. She also tries to break Yi Wei and Ya Fang (Cynthia Koh) up. Yi Wei and Chu Fan find out about Mei Ling's plot and try to salvage the company. However, they failed and lost their company. Even though "Crescendo" has now become history, but in the process they rekindled their friendship and passion for music that they once had.
