The substantially true story of Walter Tull, a black man whose grandfather was a slave but who was born in Folkestone, Kent, in England, and who, in the years prior to the First World War, was a professional football player for Tottenham Hotspur. However, despite the odd flashback the film focuses solely on his prowess in the war. In 1916 he is a non-commissioned officer, heroically attempting to save comrades and is recommended for training as an officer at a military school in Scotland where he encounters prejudice because of his colour, as well as impressing and dating a local girl. His single-mindedness and desire to be the best impresses the fair-minded Captain Coombes and he ultimately attains his commission. However, he is killed in 1918 and a postscript informs us that, whilst he was recommended for the Military Cross, it was never bestowed upon him.

At least Emma's parents appreciate that Daniel has a career and show him some respect. However this is instantly withdrawn when Daniel gets his arm stuck in a condom dispensing machine, in anticipation of a night with Emma whilst the parents are away.

Some quick thinking puts Eve on the back foot as her allegations are challenged. Elsewhere, Angus and Rebecca go on a socially distant date, and Lenny's chances of escaping slip through his fingers when the architect of his misery reveals themselves.

Lenny is determined to keep Amber in Shieldinch, but his solutions are not met with universal approval. Meanwhile, Cameron's attempts to alleviate Dylan's anxieties don't go to plan, and Ellie's desire for justice only succeeds in angering Nicole.

A desperate Ellie makes a final attempt to clear Caitlin's name. Meanwhile, Alex is torn between his obligation to Amber and his relationship with Jessie. Scarlett and Bernie receive Molly's will.

Caitlin and Ruby have an honest discussion about Joe's murder - but how will Ruby cope with the truth? Amber resorts to drastic measures when she feels disrespected by the Murdoch men, and sparks fly when new girlfriend Jac meets Lou's old flame.

Lenny makes a final attempt to survive when faced with a vengeful Amber, and time runs out on Alex and Rory's search for their dad. Elsewhere, Eve struggles to come to terms with the idea that Cameron could be capable of being Poppy's stalker and what she should do next.

Trying to ease the rising tensions, Levi is on a mission to make Bob his best buddy. Meanwhile, Amber visits the Two Jailbirds and is unimpressed by how Stevie has been running the place in her absence, and Cameron needs to deflect Eve's growing suspicions.

Results from the second post-mortem are in, and they place a Shieldinch resident in the guilty spotlight. Poppy gets an unexpected present with horrifying implications, and Jessie's effort to understand her aunt Amber unleashes the redhead's inner demon.

Slipping further away from Poppy, Stevie struggles to hold his temper when Cameron antagonises him. Ruby's loft clear-out reveals something Caitlin would rather have stayed hidden, and Lenny learns the dreadful truth of why Amber is in Shieldinch.

The discovery of the blood-spattered rug puts Caitlin back in jail. Love guru Levi takes on Bob as an apprentice, while Amber rejects any sympathy over the death of her daughter.

Eve's suspicions eat away at her, how much longer can she keep this secret? Caitlin is released from jail but finds Ruby has discovered the confession tapes. Lou can't reject former lover Amber, while Jac sees the consequence of her shoddy police work.

When the police arrive at her doorstep, Eve realises she has been outplayed by devious Cameron. It's Jessie's 17th birthday, and Alex wants it to be perfect - but not every family member is on board with the celebrations. Meanwhile, Paul is torn between confronting his fear and his heart's desire.

Eve and Poppy combine forces to try to defeat Cameron, but are they a match for him? Alex decides his future may be outside of Shieldinch, and Stevie hires Sonny to help spruce up the Two Jailbirds.
