Despite her success, Jordana continued to attend Yale University, in the class of 2003. Campbell, home of the 101st Airborne Division, and soon settled there permanently.
Being in close proximity to Nashville allowed Rachel the opportunity to pursue her interest in the entertainment industry at a young age. By the age of eight, she was performing in a live show at Opryland USA and participating in various recording sessions and modeling jobs.
As Rachel grew into a young adult, she combined her passion for entertaining and educating others to help determine her field of study in college-journalism.
In December 2006, Rachel graduated a semester early from Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. There she received a Bachelor of Science in Journalism while graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors. During Rachel's time at Belmont, she was awarded many honors and opportunities. Rachel received a full tuition scholarship to attend Belmont due to her community service activities and academic achievements throughout high school. She was on the Dean's List her entire collegiate career and was a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. In addition, Rachel served as an officer for an on campus organization that is dedicated to welcoming prospective students and their families to the campus. Rachel also served as managing editor for the student led campus newspaper, The Belmont Vision. When Rachel was not in class or in the newspaper office, she could be found volunteering at the Vine Hill Boys and Girls Club in Nashville.
During her time at Belmont, Rachel also completed two internships: one at a local level-market 30 station, News Channel 5, WTVF-Nashville-and the second on a national level-Harpo Productions, Inc. in Chicago.
The year of 2007 brought Rachel many exciting adventures. In January she had an exciting opportunity to travel to South Africa to volunteer at Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy for Girls. The Leadership Academy opened in January 2007 with 151 South African girls, ages seventh and eighth grade, from disadvantaged backgrounds. The first-class school offers academically talented girls an opportunity to develop their full potential and become the country's future leaders. Carlos Fuentes was a Mexican writer, author of drama and some horror books. He was the son of a Mexican career diplomat, Fuentes was born in Panama and traveled extensively with his family in North and South America and in Europe. He learned English at age four in Washington, D.C. As a young man, he studied law at the University of Mexico in Mexico City and later attended the Institute of Advanced International Studies in Geneva. Fuentes was a member of the Mexican delegation to the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva (1950-1952), was in charge of cultural dissemination for the University of Mexico (1955-1956), was cultural officer of the ministry (1957-1959), and was ambassador to France (1975-1977). He also cofounded and edited several periodicals, including Revista Mexicana de literatura (1954-1958; "Mexican Review of Literature"). The novel Las buenas conciencias (1959; The Good Conscience) emphasizes the moral compromises that mark the transition from a rural economy to a complex middle-class urban one. Aura (1962) is a novella that successfully fuses reality and fantasy. La muerte de Artemio Cruz (1962; The Death of Artemio Cruz), which presents the agony of the last hours of a wealthy survivor of the Mexican Revolution, was translated into several languages and established Fuentes as a major international novelist. After Artemio Cruz came a succession of novels. Cambio de piel (1967; A Change of Skin) defines existentially a collective Mexican consciousness by exploring and reinterpreting the country's myths. Terra nostra (1975; "Our Land," Eng. trans. Terra nostra) explores the cultural substrata of New and Old Worlds as the author, using Jungian archetypal symbolism, seeks to understand his cultural heritage. Diana; o, la cazadora solitaria (1994; Diana the Goddess Who Hunts Alone) is a fictional version of Fuentes's affair with the American actress Jean Seberg. In 1995 he published La frontera de cristal: una novela en nueve cuentos (The Crystal Frontier: A Novel in Nine Stories), a tale of nine lives as they are affected by a powerful and unscrupulous man. Among Fuentes's other works of fiction are La cabeza de la hidra (1978; The Hydra Head), Una familia lejana (1980; Distant Relations), Gringo viejo (1985; The Old Gringo; film 1989), Cristóbal nonato (1987; Christopher Unborn), Los años con Laura Díaz (1999; The Years with Laura Díaz), Instinto de Inez (2001; Inez), and La voluntad y la fortuna (2008; "Will and Fortune"). Fuentes also published collections of stories, including Constancia, y otras novelas para vírgenes (1989; Constancia and Other Stories for Virgins), El naranjo; o, los círculos del tiempo (1993; "The Orange Tree; or, The Circles of Time," Eng. trans. The Orange Tree), Inquieta compañía (2004; "Disturbing Company"), and Todas las familias felices (2006; Happy Families: Stories).
Fuentes wrote several plays, including the important Todos los gatos son pardos (1970; "All Cats Are Gray"), a drama about the Spanish conquest of Mexico with the pivotal character La Malinche, the quasi-legendary woman agent of Hernán Cortés who is said to have served as a mediator between the Spanish and Mexican civilizations. A revised version of Todos los gatos was released in 1991 as Ceremonias del alba ("Ceremonies of the Dawn"). Among Fuentes's works of nonfiction are La nueva novela hispanoamericana (1969; "The New Hispano-American Novel"), which is his chief work of literary criticism; Cervantes; o, la critica de la lectura (1976; "Cervantes; or, The Critique of Reading," Eng. trans. Don Quixote; or, The Critique of Reading), an homage to the great Spanish writer; and his book-length essay on Hispanic cultures, El espejo enterrado (1992; Buried Mirror), which was published simultaneously in Spanish and English.
Fuentes was undoubtedly one of the foremost Mexican writers of the 20th century. His broad range of literary accomplishments and his articulate humanism made him highly influential in the world's literary communities, particularly in that of Latin America. Several of his novels effect a cosmopolitan dialogue between Mexican culture and that of other countries and study the effect of foreign cultures, especially the Spanish and the North American, on Mexican identity. He pronounced his most ambitious work, Terra nostra, an attempt to synthesize the voices of James Joyce in Ulysses and Alexandre Dumas in The Count of Monte Cristo. Fuentes exhibits a postmodern sensibility in his use of plural voices to explore a subject. In 1987 he was awarded the Cervantes Prize, the most prestigious Spanish-language literary award. Carlos Fuentes died in May 15, 2012.- Laffit Pincay Jr. retired in April 2003 as horse racing's all-time winningest jockey until that time, with 9,530 victories. He was surpassed in 2006 by Russell Baze, who as of March 2014 has over 12,208 wins.
With his 8,834th win at Hollywood Park in California on December 10, 1999, he surpassed jockey legend Willie Shoemaker (popularly known as Bill Shoemaker or "The Shoe"), thereby setting (at that time) a new career jockey victory record, while on board "Irish Nip," the horse that won him his record 8,834th riding win.
Winner of the 1984 Kentucky Derby aboard "Swale" and also the winner of three consecutive Belmont Stakes, 1982, 1983, and 1984. The 1984 Belmont race was also aboard "Swale," making them winners of two out of three legs of the 1984 Triple Crown, missing only The Preakness Stakes at Baltimore's Pimlico Race Track. He never won The Preakness, and after 1984, he never rode another horse to victory in any Triple Crown race, capping his Triple Crown record at four wins.
In 1975, he was a National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame inductee. - Actress

Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Dan Peek was born on November 1, 1950 in Panama City, Florida. Dan attended London Central High School in London, England, where he met fellow musicians Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell. The trio formed the folk-rock group America in the late 60s. Peek was a member of the band from 1970 to 1977. Peek renewed his faith in Christianity after years of recreational drug use and too much unhappy living in the fast lane. After leaving America in Februrary, 1977, Dan signed with Pat Boone's "Lions & Lambs Records" and established himself as an artist in the then-burgeoning Christian pop music genre. He released his debut album, "All Things Are Possible", in 1979. The same-titled single was not only a #1 hit on the contemporary Christian music radio stations, but also was a crossover success on both the Billboard and adult contemporary radio charts. Peek wrote an autobiography called "An American Band: The America Story", which specifically focused on his years as a member of America and his personal spiritual journey. Dan released his second album, "Doer of the Word", in 1984 and had a few additional hit songs on the contemporary Christian music charts. He spent much of the 90s in semi-retirement occasionally recording music at his home in the Cayman Islands. Moreover, Peek not only collaborated with musicians Ken Marvin and Brian Gentry as the group "Peace" on a handful of albums, but also recorded several albums that he sold on his official website. Dan died at age 60 on July 24, 2011 in Farmington, St. Louis, Missouri.- Manuel Antonio Noriega Moreno was a Panamanian dictator, politician and military officer who was the de facto ruler of Panama from 1983 to 1989.
