JJ (Dave Bautista) is trying to be a family man and pulls back from his CIA field work. He's training Sophie (Chloe Coleman), but she is turning rebellious. She also has a desperate crush on classmate Ryan. The school choir wins a trip to Italy for competition. Sophie, Ryan, and her best friend Collin are all going. Collin doesn't know that his father David Kim (Ken Jeong) is actually JJ's CIA boss. JJ is the chaperone, but Collin gets taken by bad guys Crane (Flula Borg) and Nancy (Anna Faris). Bobbi (Kristen Schaal) is the expendable tech.
This is the sequel to My Spy (2020). The first movie didn't hit and I really wasn't expecting a sequel. For me, the 2020 movie is passable with likeable actors. It's four years later and the likeability of these actors remain the best aspect of this movie. The girl is four years older and she is in her awkward teen years. It's hard to accept all the sex jokes around her, but the teenage hormones are bubbling. This is not anything great, but it is fine to hang out with these actors.
