Only You (2018) -

Josh O'Connor as Jake was so natural. I love him in everything and I thought that he was superb as (Then) Prince Charles in 'The Crown' (2016-) and 'God's Own Country' (2017). Even in this, despite its rather blah storyline, he managed to shine for his acting ability.

The way that it was filmed made him seem even more natural, almost as if it was a documentary of real people.

I didn't really like the character of Elena, played by Laia Costa, so it was difficult to want their relationship to succeed. If there was a crying Olympics she could easily have won.

Jake was a bit pushy though and their relationship was actually all a bit forced and far too quick. I realised that was the point, but even the most stupid of people would have to stop and think if they were really doing the right thing.

I've definitely been known to rush in to a relationship myself, although they don't last long, but I can't imagine trying for kids within the first year? But I did recognise the feeling of everyone around me growing up and achieving the tick list of House, Marriage and Baby while I'm still just plodding along, but at least they had each other.

Because the film overall was rushed, I couldn't quite understand her disappointment as the story progressed, because she didn't seem that keen to start with. Another 15 minutes of the beginning of their relationship wouldn't have hurt and perhaps some of the later dramatic pauses could have been trimmed down to accommodate it, because honestly, I lost a bit of interest about half way thorough. It got quite dull and their attitudes towards each other were annoying to watch. Like when someone is having an embarrassing argument at a party or that line from Kate Nash's 'Foundations' song.

I very nearly turned it off about half an hour from the end, because it was just so depressing and actually a bit rapey at times.

Because of the filming style and filters or lack the of, there was a bit of a dreary and drippy element to it as well. I suppose that they were trying to make it a bit timeless, but it was very washed out and miserable.

Also, it almost felt like it was one of those films where they were asked to ad-lib based on a set up and a suggestion of conversational topics to cover, because it just didn't seem to flow with any structure.

I was expecting a cute little romance, oh well.
