This series lacks a good mystery storyline and as such I usually get bored half way. Main character looks like a female Columbo with her collection of trench coats and comes off as a smarty know it all. Her assistant is just annoying and doesn't seem to do much in the way of work but has a funky wardrobe. Detective seems to walk his dog a lot in the daytime The lighting and scenery featuring Melbourne and NZ is beautiful. That's all I watch it for, the scenery and funky clothes. Pity about the yawn fest script.
Update May 2024: Watched this again and must say the Alexa character is extremely unlikeable. She's nasty to people and an arrogant know-all. "Arse off the table; we don't do that here" is how she talks to her assistant. I think she's not even acting and that's her real persona. Her virtue signalling is annoying. Small hotel soaps are bad for the environment but Alexa's 10 trench coats in different colours are OK.
Series 3 is terrible, they brought in another sidekick and a kid which spoilt it. Episode S2E06 is my pick of the bunch but I read somewhere that it's a copy of a Columbo episode.
