Door Lock (2018)
5/10
Good, but I wasn't blown away.

There's little more frightening than being a victim within the comfort of your own home. 'Door Lock' explores this, and beyond.

There are some really creepy moments here, especially during the final act when we feel like yelling at the characters to just turn around and LOOK! Kong Hyo-Jin stars as Jo Kyung-Min, a young woman living on her own in a small apartment. One night whilst getting ready for bed, she notices someone trying to open her front door. Afterwards, the police doesn't believe it to be a legit case and she decides to do her own investigation when there's another attempt at entry into her apartment, and a murder.

Typical of Korean horror films, the film is unpredictable and off course the shock factor is there as well. 'Door Lock' reminded me of films like 'The Chaser', 'I saw the Devil' (only not nearly as brutal), and 'Manhole'. There are some truly nerve wrecking moments, but ultimately the film didn't impress me as much as other Korean genre films. It was nevertheless a good film, and very creepy.
