Movies like "Zombeavers" put me in a difficult spot as a reviewer. It's a bad and awfully inept film, and I want to write this down in my user-comment as well, but on the other hand ... it's a movie about ordinary beavers that turn into zombie creatures! What do you expect from such a cheap and amateurish production? If you seek a quality horror film, you watch "Repulsion", "Psycho" or something similar, but if you seek a brainless and cheesy piece of zombie-gore, you can watch a movie like "Zombeavers" and you sure as hell don't complain about how how poor it is, right? Actually no, because a silly movie like "Zombeavers" could have tried a little bit harder to deliver something that is even trashier, more entertaining and memorable. When it comes to movies like this one, my motto is: if you go over-the-top, you better do it properly! "Zombeavers" simply isn't imbecilic, outrageous or entertaining enough. The set-up is reasonably good, with a whole lot of delightful genre clichés integrated into the screenplay. The poor beavers mutate into flesh-craving zombies due to a barrel of toxic waste that accidentally gets dumped into a river by a duo of nitwits, there's a crazy old guy running around with a shotgun, the foul-mouthed girl of the bunch unscrupulously goes topless and one of the boyfriends is a sexual deviant and prankster. So far so good, and I could even appreciate how incredibly ridiculous and phony the zombie-beavers looked, but what I found absolutely intolerable is the boring and unexciting middle section. From this type of movie, I expect non-stop gore and fast-paced action, like in "Evil Aliens" or "Grabbers" for example, and I don't want to be bored halfway through.
