"The Bride of Christ" is a stellar episode of "Father Brown". It has everything...a great mystery, great motivations, excellent characters and a few surprises. And, apparently, Sister Boniface was such a great character they gave her a spinoff series.
The story begins with a woman about to become a nun. In some orders, they literally perform a wedding complete with a ring to symbolize a woman marrying Christ...and this is where the first murder occurs. The Novice, about to become a nun, collapses dead from apparent cyanide poisoning! It's rather inexplicable, as no one knows of any reason anyone would want to kill this lady. However, later, when an old and incredibly nasty nun dies...well, no one is all that surprised because she is a real piece of work! Can Father Brown and Sister Boniface work to find out what happened here and who the killer is?
It's rare, but I have no complaints about this episode...not even a little one. Well made and the best "Father Brown" I've yet seen. Well worth your time.
