Billy Bob Thornton is the best he's ever been. Taylor Sheridan is writing and directing this series, and whatever he's drinking I want a case because this series has the promise in its first episode of being the best he's ever done.
My nephew's out in Midland, Texas working in The Patch. And from the stories he sometimes tells--like Landman--it's sometimes raw, sometimes ugly, and it's always the real deal.
The men, and women, who live--and sometimes die--here are just as real, with all the hard work, humor, pathos, and courage that it takes to bring to us the energy and hydrocarbon products that--despite efforts to the contrary--remain the foundations of our civilization.
It's not always pretty, but it is a magnificent portrait of a world all of us take for granted, and shouldn't.
If you haven't watched it yet, make the time.
