None of the cops on Chicago Pd are millionaires. They are working people, and they risk their lives on a regular basis to make sure that Windy City civilians are safe with little to show for it. Cash is tight for Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) and Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), in particular, which is why the events of the episode "Black Ice" were such a nice change of pace.

Ruzek and Burgess are not only struggling to plan their upcoming wedding, but to provide for their daughter and Ruzek's father as well. It's not easy, and the pressure of these external circumstances can be felt whenever they are onscreen. Fortunately, Ruzek's father, Bob (Jack Coleman), made the situation a bit easier.

Jason Beghe is the face of Chicago Pd. Other characters have been crucial to the show's lasting appeal, but it's impossible to conceive of the show without Beghe's grizzled performance as Hank Voight. He's also been on hand for most of Chicago Pd's most notable episodes.

It's always fun to compare one's personal favorite episodes to the ones chosen by the actors who appear in them. The selections they make are typically unexpected, and this was very much the case when Beghe was asked to pinpoint the episode that most stood out to him over the last 12 seasons. We figured he'd pick a Voight heavy story, but he did the complete opposite.

The Ugly Stepsister is a retelling of the classic Cinderella tale with a horror twist. Directed by Emilie Blichfeldt and starring Lea Myren, Thea Sofie Loch Næss, Ane Dahl Torp, and Flo Fagerli, this Norwegian film uses the fairy tale as a vehicle to examine themes of self-esteem, harmful beauty standards, and girlhood. The 2025 release also joins the ranks of recent body horror pictures like The Substance and Grafted.

In the upcoming episode of “Marie-Antoinette,” titled “Madame Deficit,” viewers will witness a poignant chapter in the life of the French queen. Set to air at 10:00 Pm on Sunday, May 4, 2025, on PBS, this episode delves deep into Marie Antoinette’s heartache as she mourns the loss of her daughter, Sophie. The emotional weight of grief will be palpable, showcasing the queen’s struggles as she navigates her royal duties while dealing with personal tragedy.

As Marie Antoinette grapples with her sorrow, a new threat emerges. Chicago Pd has alternated, sometimes inconsistently, between its veteran characters and its new characters in season 12. There are pros and cons to both sides, but the last two episodes have done a surprisingly effective job at getting us reinvested in junior officers Kiana Cook (Toya Turner) and Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar).

It's been a bit since they have gotten a chance to take center stage, and delve into their complicated relationship. Cook and Torres worked closely in the episode "Name Image Likeness," and the actress who plays the former, Toya Turner spoke with TV Line about the future of their partnership within the Iu. To the surprise of absolutely no one, it's going to be complicated.

Chicago Pd has been occasionally frustrating in season 12. The show has introduced fascinating character arcs for several of its veteran presences, but the emphasis on case of the week stories has led to some of these arcs being pushed on to the back burner. There are times where the underlying feelings of the Iu members are not even referenced.

We do, somewhat, understand. There's been some excellent standalone stories in season 12, as well as a crossover event and an ongoing conflict with Chief Deputy Charlie Reid (Shawn Hatosy). We are excited to what happens with the villain, but we're relieved to have confirmation that the season 12 finale will place the emphasis on character over story.

Venita Aspen exists well outside the realm of One Chicago. She's risen to fame as a cast member on the reality series Southern Comfort, but she's a huge fan of the procedural franchise. Well, at least, a huge fan of one of the stars. Aspen recently went on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and revealed she has a crush on one of Chicago Pd's main actors.

"There is a man that is on NBC that I have my eye on," Aspen asserted. "He’s a Chicago Pd star." This obviously drew the interest of the crowd, and the reality provided some additional information. “I just found him a couple of weeks ago and I think he’s handsome," she added. "I slid in his DMs and I said, 'It’s so funny we work for the same network but we never ran into each other.'"

A lot has changed in 12 seasons. Chicago Pd has seen a lot of faces come and go, and the ones that have stuck around have become all the stronger for it. Something we didn't think about too much in seasons prior, however, was the rank of most Iu members.

Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) is a lieutenant, which makes sense given his seniority and the fact that he runs the Iu. Then Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) got promoted to detective, making her the only Iu member who is not merely an officer. Which make us sit back, reconsider, and realize that there are some other Pd members who are primed for a promotion in the near future.

We have been critical of Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) in the past. Well, we've been critical of the way Chicago Pd writers have used Torres. The character and the actor who plays him has a lot of potential, but it feels like the writers are still unsure of how to implement him in the show.

Torres will finally become a crucial player during the final leg of season 12, but it won't be for the reasons one might expect. The officer has been striving to prove himself a worthy member of the Iu, and has tried his hardest to move past his professional mistakes. Well, that is not going to happen. Instead, Torres will become more important because of his mistakes.

Chicago Pd takes a different approach to ensemble storytelling than its One Chicago peers. Instead of spreading the wealth, and weaving in two-three different stories an episode, Pd prefers to narrow the focus to a single character and develop them over the course of an hour.

It's obviously proven effective. The show is in its 12th season, and doesn't show any signs of slowing down. It will, however, take a turn that we didn't see coming in the episode "Greater Good." Instead of revolving around one of the Iu members, the episode will delve into the backstory of Pd's antagonist, Chief Deputy Charlie Reid.

Hank Voight is the face of Chicago Pd. He may not always be the focus, but it's impossible to conceive of the show without him. One could argue he's the One Chicago character who is most important to his show. And he's undergoing some changes in season 12.

The episode "Marie" saw Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) resort to some extreme measures to interrogate a suspect regarding a kidnapping. The police officer relied on force, and even got close to seriously injuring the suspect before Voight intervened. It was a huge moment, given how many times Voight has used similar tactics in the past. But he has learned from his mistakes.

Chicago Pd has been putting Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) through the absolute ringer lately. The character has had to contend with his father's Alzheimer's diagnosis, as well as a harrowing case involving a kidnapped girl he has a fatherly connection with.

It's no wonder Ruzek has been on edge. Unfortunately, Pd's decision to focus on Ruzek's increasingly tense situation has come at the expense of the happy stuff around the corner. Namely, Ruzek getting married to Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati). The show has been oddly non-referential when it comes to the wedding, despite it being set up as the season 12 finale.

Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) has been one of the sneaky MVPs of Chicago Pd season 12. The character may not evoke the instant intrigue that a Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) or even a Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) does, but he has been front and center in some of the season's biggest stories.

He proved his capableness and coolness under pressure during the One Chicago crossover, and advised Kevin Atwater (Laroyce Hawkins) through some pretty murky waters on the recent episode "Street Jesus." The episode left the case open to be revisited in a later episode. John Flueger said the second part "will keep breaking your heart," and a sneak peek of Episode 14, "Marie," follows through on this promise. Exclusive: Banijay Rights has hired Sarah Mottershead from StudioCanal TV for its Emea team.

Mottershead has been appointed VP, Middle East, Africa, Israel, Greece & Cyprus, based out of London. This will put her in charge of strategy for the MasterChef and Peaky Blinders distributor in those territories.

Currently in the role is Robin Pollok, who we hear is exiting Banijay Rights at the end of the year.

At StudioCanal, she was VP, TV Series Sales, overseeing distribution in Central & Eastern Europe, the Cis region, Africa and Asia. She has also held roles at Shine International, whose assets are now part of Banijay Rights, and Fremantle.

Mottershead will report to Banijay Rights’ EVP, Emea Sales and Acquisitions, Claire Jago, who called her “an experienced television executive with a wealth of knowledge” who would be “a huge asset to Banijay Rights in these pivotal markets.”

Mottershead is the latest recruit to the Banijay Rights stable.

Taskovski Films Sales has picked up “Light Memories,” which will have its world premiere in the international competition section of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam.

In the film, which is the feature directorial debut of photographer Misha Vallejo Prut, photography, fractured memories and family secrets converge in an exploration of the effects of absent father figures in a family.

Vallejo Prut uses his grandfather’s camera to recreate a family album, bridging the gap to a man he never met.

“Exploring absent father figures, he reclaims spaces once denied to his family. Through his lens, secrets and violence surface, yet memory’s fluidity offers a chance for redemption,” according to a statement.

Vallejo Prut said: “This film delves into family legacy and identity, uncovering deep-rooted societal issues that many will find both thought-provoking and deeply relatable.”

Judith Jamison was born on May 10, 1943, in Philadelphia and passed away on Nov. 9, 2024, in New York City. The American dancer and choreographer is dead at age 81 following a brief illness. May her memory be a blessing.

Jamison prevailed at the 1999 Emmy Awards in the Best Choreography category for “Dance in America: A Hymn for Alvin Ailey,” an episode of PBS’s “Great Performances” anthology series that focuses on the performing arts. For that same project, she also won a trophy at the 1999 American Choreography Awards.

She received the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors in 1999, and the National Medal of Arts in 2001. Jamison’s most recent accolade came in 2018 for BET’s “Black Girls Rock” in the category of Living Legend Award.

French sales outfit Ginger & Fed has boarded Fabien Gorgeart’s comedy drama What Is Love? (C’est Quoi l’Amour?) starring Laure Calamy and Vincent Macaigne as a long-divorced couple attempting to annul their Catholic marriage at the Vatican.

Ginger & Fed, the theatrical sales arm of French group Federation run by Sabine Chemaly, will kick off sales for the film at the American Film Market.

Heisenberg has returned with a special message for anyone thinking about littering. Bryan Cranston has appeared in a public service ad campaign as his Breaking Bad character to discourage people from littering in the state of New Mexico.

Per the NY Post, the new ads featuring Cranston were first unveiled in an arthouse movie theater in Santa Fe. The PSA is called "Breaking Bad Habits," and it features Cranston's Walter White rolling a barrel through the New Mexico desert, similar to how he'd done so in a memorable Breaking Bad scene. In the PSA, however, Walter is revealed to be collecting trash from the ground left behind by careless litterbugs. Squashing a paper cup from Los Polos Hermanos, the drug kingpin warns, "Keep litter out of my territory." The ad spot, shared online by New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, can be watched below.

Peter Marshall, the multiple Emmy Award-winning host of classic game show “Hollywood Squares,” died Thursday of kidney failure, his publicist Harlan Boll told TheWrap.

Best known for hosting more than 5,000 episodes of the original version of the game show for more than 15 years, he enjoyed an eight-decade career as a singer, actor and emcee. Marshall even quipped that he wanted his official cause of death to be reported as “boredom.”

According to his wife of 35 years, Laurie, he died at his home in Encino, surrounded by loved ones.
