Anyone looking for the next great American filmmaker might have to spread their search to the Northern part of North America where a number of French-Canadian filmmakers have started to get attention and being brought "South of the Border" to make their English language debuts. One of those filmmakers is Denis Villeneuve, whose Canadian films Maelstrom and Polytechnique were able to find an arthouse crowd in the States before his third movie Incendies was nominated for a Foreign Language Oscar.
