Avatar: The Last Airbender adds Severance star to season 2, goes ahead with season 3
Image
Netflix is moving full speed ahead with its live-action remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Not only have they wrapped on season 2, but they're already moving on season 3, as revealed in this cute little video:

The first season dropped in early 2024 and the second probably won't air until early 2026, or maybe late this year. But it's good to see that Netflix is getting a move on. Season 3 will mark the end of the show, so hopefully the wait between seasons 2 and 3 will be bearable. At a time when waits between seasons of big shows like this are getting longer and longer, it's good to see a studio be proactive.

The show is also staffing up. Season 2 will feature the returns of cast members Gordon Cormier (Aang), Kiawentiio (Katara), Ian Ousley (Sokka), Dallas Liu (Zuko), Elizabeth Yu (Azula), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Iroh), Daniel Dae Kim (Ozai), Momona Tamada (Ty Lee) and...

One Episode Of Avatar: The Last Airbender Remade A Classic Western
Image
It's hard to find a TV series more beloved than "Avatar: The Last Airbender." Unlike some fandoms out there, the "Avatar" audience lives in shared adoration of the show — as harmonious as the four nations of water, earth, fire, and air once were. There are 61 "Avatar" episodes split across three seasons (or "Books"). Of those, season 2 "Zuko Alone" is often singled out as one of the best, if not the best, of the whole show. "Avatar" sequel "The Legend of Korra" even did a spiritual follow-up: "Korra Alone." The exiled prince of the Fire Nation, Zuko (Dante Basco) is introduced in season 1 hunting Avatar Aang (Zach Tyler Eisen). In season 2, Zuko falls even lower, losing even the meager resources he previously had. He has to put his Avatar hunt on pause because the Fire Nation is hunting him too.

"Zuko Alone" is both a standalone episode and one that cannot be skipped.

Avatar: The Last Airbender movie delayed
Image
We're in the midst of a Last Airbender revival. Now only is there a live-action remake show between seasons on Netflix, but original creators Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko are making a new series of animated projects, including a movie that follows up with Aang, Katara and the rest of the old gang from the original show as adults. The movie is called The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender:

Avatar Fans Proclaim Toph as the Lord of Prodigies Because of Her One Insane Feat Both Katara and Azula Can’t Touch
Image
The world of Avatar: The Last Airbender has its fair share of prodigies, but few match up to the might of Toph Beifong. Aang was lucky to have more than a few prodigies on his own team, but there were few, even in Lord Ozai’s camp, that would dare face off against the walking apocalypse that was Toph.

Toph’s is a very interesting story in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Born blind, the character was able to supplement her disability with her bending, which she learned when she was six from the original Earthbenders: The Badgermoles.

17 Years Later, Atla Has Given Me One More Reason to Say Out Loud Why Zuko’s Redemption Arc is Better Than Vegeta’s
Image
Avatar: The Last Airbender‘s Zuko has one of the best redemption arcs in all of television, and is often compared to the one that Vegeta had in Dragon Ball Z. These characters started out with pretty similar goals, and subscribed to notions of honor and pride as the driving forces in their lives.

However, it is beyond a doubt that Zuko’s redemption is a lot better executed than Vegeta’s for a myriad of reasons. To begin with, Vegeta’s turn involved him coming to the realization that there was something inherently wrong with him, while Zuko came to terms with the fact that what he was trying to be was not who he really was.

“Even Azula has a softer side”: Real Reason Avatar: The Last Airbender Creators Refused to Accept Zuko’s Sister Is Truly Evil
Image
Avatar: The Last Airbender was able to deliver one of the best redemption arcs in all of fiction, specifically when it came to the story of Prince Zuko. There is an entire section of the fandom that believes that his sister, Princess Azula, was not someone who deserved a similar arc.

This was often attributed to the fact that Azula was a lot more ruthless and ‘evil’ when compared to Zuko, which the creators of the show have largely attributed to her having a troubled relationship with her mother. They have also come out with statements that point towards Azula’s possible redemption, given that the creators believe that she is not truly evil.

Forget 1 Gorilla vs 100 Men, Avatar Fans Demand 1 Aang vs 1000 Chi-Blockers
Image
Avatar Aang has been known to be a peace-loving Avatar, at least when compared to others who have held the mantle. However, as shown in his fight with Fire Lord Ozai, the character can mean business when it comes to a head-on confrontation.

Following the 1 Gorilla vs 100 Men meme format, a bunch of Avatar: The Last Airbender fans are wondering about the outcome of a similar matchup, where Avatar Aang would go up against a 1000 Chi blockers. While the fight might seem lopsided in favor of the chi-blockers, the reality might be a little different.

While it might seem like one thousand chi blockers might be too much for a single Avatar to handle, it must be noted that fully realized Avatars can take down entire nations, splitting land masses and causing tsunamis.

‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’: 17 Years Later, I’m Realizing Why Azula Never Deserved Redemption as Life’s Greatest Lesson
Image
Avatar: The Last Airbender is still hailed today for having one of the most nuanced and well-crafted redemption arcs in modern media. Prince Zuko’s story, in which he is torn between the trauma that his father inflicted on him and the kind and gentle influence of his uncle, Iroh, was fertile ground to weave an interesting narrative with, even perhaps being the most complex character in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

A part of Zuko’s story was also his sister Azula, who never had Iroh’s influence, and happily catered to the toxicity that her father perpetuated. Given that Zuko was in a similar position when it came to the beginning of the story, there have been some speculations in the fandom as to how Azula could have gotten her redemption. However, a different section of the fandom believes that it is best for the character...

Here’s Why the New ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Movie Replaced the Original Cast
Image
The saga of Avatar Aang, the last Air Nomad frozen in ice for a hundred years and returning to bring balance to the world, constantly draws attention. The animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender became one of the most beloved franchises in the world when it debuted on Nickelodeon 20 years ago. Team Aang in that time period were mainly children as they battled the Fire Nation, stopping Fire Lord Ozai from dominating the world. Now, there is a new animated film in the works, previously titled Aang: The Last Airbender, which has been renamed as The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender. This latest part of Aang's saga will follow Team Aang as young adults as they seek to bring peace to the world after the destructive war with the Fire Nation has ended. With some new cast members coming onboard, the casting director behind the animated film opened up...

New Avatar Series Finally Has a Release Window
Image
One upcoming series set in the Avatar: The Last Airbender world just got a definitively disappointing update. Several new Atla projects are coming down the pipe in the next few years, but one of the most intriguing is Avatar: Seven Havens. The new series will be set after the events of Legend of Korra, and will follow an unnamed earthbending Avatar who is viewed as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. There had been no word on an official release date for the series, but the most recent issue of Toy World Magazine features a Paramount section, which confirms that the show will not debut until 2027 at the earliest. Seven Havens will be created by original Atla scribes Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko, and casting information has yet to be revealed.

Now, the beloved “gaang” is officially coming back with a brand-new animated feature film. And while fans are thrilled to return to the Four Nations, many are still cautious after the few missteps of previous live-action adaptations. This time, however, hopes are high.

But not everything is staying the same. Casting director Jenny Jue recently revealed that some of the original voice actors will not be reprising their roles in the upcoming film. Here is why!

“No, not everyone is queer”: Atla Creator Himself Defended Korra’s Relationship Status in Avatar
Image
Avatar: The Legend of Korra was controversial for a slew of reasons, and one of those was how the creators of the show were treating Korra’s romantic preferences. Bryan Knietzko himself put out a statement defending the choices that they made, defending Korra and Asami’s blossoming feelings for each other.

The Legend of Korra was a show that never outright acknowledged that Korra and Asami had a relationship, but had a very clever way of communicating that they were, in fact together. While the comics were very vocal about the relationship that the duo shared, the show’s choice was to take that route, even without being outright about it.

Netflix Destroyed ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Most Powerful Moment by Focusing on the Wrong Character
Image
There is a reason why fans hate live-action remakes of beloved animated shows/movies. Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender was supposed to be a faithful adaptation of the Nickelodeon show, but they couldn’t help but change key characters and their dynamics. No remake should be a shot-to-shot adaptation, but this one bit was frustrating.

In the animated series, Zuko’s scar is revealed to have been given to him by his father, Fire Lord Ozai, the leader of the Fire Nation. The reveal adds a lot of depth to the dynamic between the father and the son and proves why Zuko craves his father’s approval. However, the Netflix adaptation really messed up with one shot.

Just Like Naruto’s Rock Lee & His Ninja Pals, Atla Needs an Avatar Comedy Spinoff on the Show’s Most Iconic Duo That Barely Got Any Screen Time
Image
Rock Lee & His Ninja Pals was a show that took a more non-canonical comedic approach to the world of Naruto. Treated as a side story with little consequences on the epic battles and emotions of the main series, Rock Lee & His Ninja Pals was able to deliver some of the most brilliant gut-busting moments in the Naruto IP.

Something similar could be in the cards for the Avatar-verse, which is set to expand as Paramount pours more money into the newly established Avatar Studios, in a bid to turn the IP into something akin to Star Wars or Wizarding World. However, two characters that could have their own comedic adventures in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender have already had an iteration of that in the main story, and there are no better candidates to base such a show on.

Uncle Iroh and Prince Zuko could have a...

What Happened To Azula After Avatar: The Last Airbender?
Image
If there's a television canon, then "Avatar: The Last Airbender" is definitely in it. Since its debut on Nickelodeon in 2005, the animated fantasy show has remained beloved by its oldest fans and won the hearts of countless new ones. Personally, "Avatar: The Last Airbender" has one of my favorite character ensembles in all of TV. Its leads were young enough for the target audience to relate to, yet complex enough for adults to be just as rewarded watching them.

Take Zuko (Dante Basco), the scarred prince of the Fire Nation who goes from villain to hero. Best redemption arc ever? It's up there. But standing next to Zuko as one of the show's most complex characters is his sister, Princess Azula. While her brother was always torn between good and evil, Azula relishes the latter. She seems like the "perfect" Princess: powerful, ruthless, and favored by her father Fire Lord...

Toph Was Supposed to Be a Man? Avatar: Tla Early Sketches Reveal Wildly Different Designs for Iroh and Azula – Appa Was Almost a Dog!

Avatar: The Last Airbender brought to life a unique world with its own mythology. At the same time, the series featured a cast of interesting characters with striking designs that instantly made an impact on viewers when the animated series first premiered.

Over the years, fans have fallen in love with characters like Aang, Iroh, Toph, Sokka, Katara, Zuko, and many more. Their designs are iconic and forever etched in the fans’ hearts. As a result, it might surprise fans to learn the original character designs were completely different.

The first sketches for the show’s cast of characters surfaced online. These designs are presumably from the very early stages of development. As a result, some of them are drastically different from the final outcome, and fans will certainly be surprised by the early designs for Toph, Appa, Iroh, and Azula.

Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Only Mistake Is Not Letting the World’s 2 Greatest Firebenders Have a Single Scene Together
Image
Avatar: The Last Airbender may have concluded more than fifteen years ago, but it remains relevant in pop culture because of its live-action adaptation, new successor media, and general reverence among fans who love dissecting its various aspects.

In the series, Iroh and Ozai are brothers from the Fire Nation and two of the best firebenders of their generation. Despite this, the brothers rarely interact in the series and do not share a single scene. As a result, fans are baffled by the lack of screen time between them.

On social media, fans discussed Iroh and Ozai’s connection, making them perfect foils for a dramatic encounter that never quite happened. As a result, it is safe to say that Avatar: The Last Airbender‘s biggest mistake might just be not giving Iroh and Ozai a dedicated scene.

“It’s Very Different”: ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Season 2 Gets a Fiery Update From Daniel Dae Kim

One of the stars in Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender show just provided an explosive update on the series. The first season of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series was met with some skepticism from fans, but it was mostly regarded as a faithful adaptation that proved worthy of another season. The show is based on the original animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, which is universally hailed as one of the best TV shows of all time. Netflix even brought in an all-new cast to bring the live-action iteration to life. Daniel Dae Kim, who portrays the ruthless Fire Lord Ozai in the show, recently spoke with ScreenRant at an NYU Tisch Gala red carpet event, and he was asked if Season 2 is bigger than Season 1:

Avatar: The Last Airbender Greatest Battle Sequences, Ranked
Image
Avatar: The Last Airbender stands as one of the most extraordinary animated achievements in television history. While technically an American production, it brilliantly incorporates Japanese anime aesthetics, Eastern philosophy, and martial arts choreography to create something wholly unique. Originally designed to captivate younger viewers on Nickelodeon, the series transcended its target demographic through its sophisticated storytelling, nuanced character development, and moral complexity.

What truly sets Avatar apart from other animated series is its exceptional world-building, centered around the mystical art of “bending” – the ability to manipulate earth, water, fire, or air. This foundation naturally gives rise to some of the most spectacular and emotionally resonant battle sequences ever animated. These aren’t merely visual showcases; each fight serves the larger narrative, reveals character growth, and often explores deeper themes of power, responsibility, and balance.

The wait for Netflix's live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender has already begun, and we can expect to wait a bit longer. Released in 2024, Season 1 condensed the events of the animated series' first book, and Season 2 is said to follow suit with the second. According to the show's newest cast member, Miya Cech, we may be waiting a while for Season 2. In an interview with The Direct, Cech reveals that fans shouldn't expect the show to return before 2026. While she wasn't exactly sure when fans would reunite with Team Avatar, Cech knows that the production team wants to keep expectations realistic. She said:

The upcoming film ‘The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender’ is set to hit theaters in 2026.

The world of Avatar is set to expand once again with the highly anticipated animated film Aang: The Last Airbender, slated for release in 2026. This upcoming movie will revisit the beloved characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender, now as young adults, several years after the events of the original series.

Fans have long speculated about what became of Aang and his friends following the epic conclusion of the Hundred Year War. While The Legend of Korra provided glimpses into their later lives, Aang: The Last Airbender aims to dive deeper into their untold adventures during their transition into adulthood.

The film is expected to explore the complexities of leadership, friendship, and the responsibilities that come with maintaining peace in a world still healing from the scars of war. Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Zuko Redemption Arc Makes No Sense When You Realize What They Did With Sokka

Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation needed to do a lot of legwork to get favor with his father again. The prince was disgraced and sent into exile, with the impossible task of capturing the Avatar with no sort of backup except for his Uncle Iroh and a small contingency of soldiers.

However, the character did become important to the Fire Nation again after he essentially toppled the old regime and took over as the new Fire Lord. This brought the colonial era to an end in the history of the Fire Nation, which would allow the healing of the world to begin.

Image
Fans have been eagerly awaiting news about the still-mysterious Avatar: The Last Airbendermovies, and finally, some details have arrived. Fan-favorite actor Steven Yeun is set to join the cast; however, which role he’ll be voicing is still unclear.

Per Variety, Steven Yeun has joined the cast of the series follow-up movie Aang: The Last Airbender. Yeun last appeared in the sequel series to The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, where he voiced Wan, the 10-thousand-year-old first Avatar who sealed the spirit portals. Yeun -- also known for his roles in The Walking Dead (Glenn Rhee) and Invincible (Mark Grayson/Invincible) -- will join the already announced cast of Eric Nam, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten and Román Zaragoza, with Dave Bautista set to portray a villain. Dante Basco, the voice actor for Zuko, was previously confirmed to return in 2022.

All of Korra's Teachers & Every Skill They Taught Her
Image
In The Legend of Korra, Avatar Korra could only reach her potential with the aid of various mentors and coaches to instruct her in unique skills. No matter the power of the Avatar State, every Avatar needs a few people to teach them how to do new things, and the Avatars aren't too proud to accept the help. Decades before Korra's time, Aang had mentors like Katara, Pakku, Toph, and Zuko to boost his skills, and Korra had even more mentors to rely on.

Avatar Aang needed mentors to show him how to bend the elements to defeat Fire Lord Ozai, and Korra learned even more than that. Korra didn't just learn combat-oriented bending; she also learned some vital skills to help her navigate a modern, high-tech world that had more spirits in it than ever. Korra was glad to have coaches and mentors to show her the way and...

Avatar: 5 Early Signs Zuko Wasn't Beyond Redemption
Image
Whenever anyone watches Avatar: The Last Airbenderfor the first time, they may be thoroughly convinced Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation is a true villain through and through. At the start, Zuko was almost cartoonishly wicked, like when he set Kyoshi Island's village on fire to get to Aang. Zuko also had a flair for the dramatic and a hot temper, two earmarks of classic cartoon villains.

However, as fans now know, Zuko is not an evil person at heart, and he proved it by betraying the Fire Nation to join Aang in Book Three: Fire. It was cathartic to see Zuko make his redemption official, which thrilled Iroh, but Zuko's redemption was hardly a last-minute change to shake things up. The groundwork for Zuko's redemption was laid all throughout Avatar: The Last Airbender, including some noteworthy early signs of his good nature. The early signs of Zuko's goodness may...

Zuko 100% Deserved Redemption in Avatar, But Azula Never Did (& Never Will)
Image
Zuko and Azula are two of the most prominent characters in Avatar: The Last Airbender. These siblings come from the Fire Nation, a society of people who can create, control, and fight with fire. Because of their abilities, the Fire Nation has stretched far and wide, conquering many lands to grow their empire. Zuko and Azula both begin working for their father, Fire Lord Ozai. But in the end, Zuko is redeemed and works with the good guys while Azula meets a different fate. Why is it that Zuko as a character deserves redemption while his sister should not get to see the same arc for her character?

Avatar: The Last Airbender's primary character is a young airbender, the last of his kind, named Aang. Aang also happens to be the Avatar, which means he can bend all four elements. Being the one and only Avatar of his generation,...

1 Crazy Avatar: The Last Airbender Theory Changes Everything We Know About Iroh
Image
Avatar: The Last Airbender's lore is impressively deep, even if the anime only had three seasons' worth of material. Even now, 20 years after Avatar: The Last Airbender first aired, fans are still devising theories about how certain bending arts are possible, including the ancient art known as "energybending." One fan theory even states General Iroh, of all people, took the first step in bringing energybending back into the world. Iroh blends the elements and sees them as different expressions of the same whole.

If the theory about Iroh's proto-energybending is true, it does more than flatter Iroh's character. This fan theory also tackles one of Avatar: The Last Airbender's few true narrative flaws — Aang's last-minute acquisition of energybending from the lion-turtle. Even if Wan Shi Tong's library hinted at the existence of lion-turtles, this plot twist still seemed too sudden and convenient. But if Iroh's lightning redirection was a hint at energybending,...

10 Most Badass Avatar: The Last Airbender Characters, Ranked
Image
Some characters in Avatar: The Last Airbenderare written to be funny or sweet, such as Katara and her Avatar friend Aang, while others are meant to be cool badasses, including heroes and villains. Characters like them don't want to be seen as cuddy and fun — they would rather impress everyone with their hardcore feats of strength and their tough attitudes, which is what they are usually known for.

Badass characters in anime series like Avatar: The Last Airbender tend to be rebellious or independent-minded, using their strength of will and bending arts to forge their own destiny rather than be someone else's pawn. Such badass characters might get along with a team or belong to a group, but they also stand strong on their own and survive with sheer badassery. It's little wonder some of the most badass characters in Avatar: The Last Airbender tend to proactively shape the plot...

10 Unforgivable Avatar Villains (& the Worst Things They Each Did)
Image
Avatar: The Last Airbenderand The Legend of Korraare famous for their complex antagonists. Zuko is held up as the gold-standard for redemption arcs in media, while Azula is easy to sympathize with in spite of how wicked she is, due to her age and the abuse she's suffered. However, the franchise more often embraces the reality that most villains don't have good in them deep down.

Often aiming for realism, the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise contains some of the most evil villains in any animated series. Aang and Korra's enemies have committed genocide, attempted genocide, enslavement, torture, child abuse, and so much more. Regardless of what they may claim their intentions to be, none of these cruel figures are forgivable in the slightest.

19 Years Ago, An Avatar: The Last Airbender Episode Gave Us Permanent Trauma That We Still Carry in 2025

Avatar: The Last Airbender has some brilliant episodes, most of which have some story beats that fans would love to see again and again. However, when it comes to possibly the most critically acclaimed and beloved episode of the show, there is some reluctance to relive the trauma that it gave its viewers with one poignant tale.

Tales of Ba Sing Se is an episode that follows sets of characters through their day in the city of Ba Sing Se. However, Iroh’s story, as fans would know, was not something anybody was ready for.

10 Action Anime With the Best Villains, Ranked
Image
Any action anime series will need some cool and strong villains to threaten the world and challenge the heroes. Weak, forgettable, or generic villains are sure to hold back the narrative somewhat, but truly great villains will make an action anime shine and keep viewers coming back for more. Whether those villains are halfway sympathetic beings or unforgivable monsters, they will be entertaining if they're stylish and strong.

A variety of action anime titles absolutely deliver on that front, and at times, the villains are more interesting than the heroes themselves. The best action anime with the best villains treat viewers to not just excellent fight scenes between good and evil, but also some thoughtful dialogue and ideological views from the villains. It's not enough for the antagonists to be strong — they also need an interesting why with what they do, and they should have strong personal convictions or even vulnerabilities to round things out.

“Draco never actually changes”: J.K. Rowling Had Her Own ‘Avatar’ Moment in Harry Potter and It’s a Shame That Never Happened
Image
Every Potterhead, who has completed J.K. Rowling’s classic work of literature is aware of how Draco Malfoy had all the makings of a legendary redemption arc. He could have easily transformed from a privileged, brainwashed kid, into a grown up realizing his family’s ideals are rotten. But sadly, Rowling had different plans.

While this redemption arc could have been a perfect setup for Draco’s dramatic, tear-jerking betrayal of the Dark Lord, J.K. Rowling instead, decided to make him slightly less awful than his father. So, what could have been Draco’s Zuko moment from Avatar: The Last Airbender, ended up becoming a missed opportunity in the Harry Potter franchise.

Draco Malfoy—the redemption arc that never was

Throughout the Harry Potter books, if there was one thing that kept recurring was Draco Malfoy’s scope for redemption. While the character was shown struggling,...

10 Avatar & Korra Plot Twists Everyone Hated at the Time
Image
The overall Avatar: The Last Airbenderfranchise is packed with incredible and hard-hitting plot twists that fans love, but at the time, some of those story developments actually felt unwelcome. First-time viewers, whether they were kids or adults, no doubt found some plot twists upsetting or downright strange, and the twists almost seemed to ruin the story at the time. Examples include self-referential humor, last-minute fixes, and retcons, among other story beats.

In hindsight, though, fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra don't mind those odd plot twists nearly as much. That's largely because the most devoted viewers have gotten over the shock and can rationalize the strangest plot twists with added context and analysis. Still, it's easy to see why even the most enthusiastic viewers might have found certain plot twists unacceptable or uncomfortable the first time around.

10 Avatar & Korra Villains Who Were Robbed of Redemption
Image
The Avatar universe thrives on its ability to create compelling villains with rich backstories. While some, like Zuko, embrace redemption, others, like Ozai, are unforgivable. Yet between these extremes are characters whose complex motivations suggest they could have taken a different path. Their inner struggles — whether tied to past trauma, misguided ambition or twisted ideals — leave fans wondering what might have been.

Redemption isn't essential for every villain, but a character's depth often inspires curiosity about what growth could look like for them. When writers craft antagonists with layered motivations and sympathetic traits, audiences naturally crave more. Whether through self-reflection, atonement or an unexpected alliance, these villains had the potential to transform — but never got the chance.

The First 10 Benders Seen in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Ranked by Strength
Image
Over time, Avatar: The Last Airbenderwelcomed a stunning variety of benders on-screen to drive along the plot and take part in incredible action scenes, but not everyone could show up right away. Powerhouses like Toph Beifong and the fearsome Fire Lord Ozai had to wait, while the early episodes dealt with benders like Aang, Zuko, and Katara. Through them, Avatar: The Last Airbender established the basics of its bending combat system, allowing later characters to expand on that bending system with their cool sub-type bending styles.

Even at the time, some of those early benders were some of the strongest in all of Avatar: The Last Airbender, while others started off more modestly and needed to grow into their full potential. In the long run, some of the earliest known benders became some of the strongest characters of all, even if their actions and behavior at the time didn't suggest it.

This Element Is Objectively the Best for Benders in the Avatar Franchise
Image
Avatar: The Last Airbenderand The Legend of Korraboth made sure to give each of the four main elements a chance to shine, from Zuko heroically using fire to fight Azula in an Agni Kai to Katara saving the day with water and ice. But while each element is useful and powerful, there can only be one strongest element, and that element is earth. For a few distinct reasons, earth has the edge on the three competing elements and has shone the brightest in the franchise.

Earthbending's advantages over fire, water, and air include the fact it's a physical element, its prevalence in the world, and above all, its remarkable variety of sub-bending styles. Despite being a stubborn and tough element, earth is actually more flexible than free-flowing elements like water and air, and it has even more offensive potential than the scorching element of fire. And by Korra's time,...

No, Korra Isn't a Failure Just Because She Suffered More Than Aang
Image
Anime fans draw all kinds of comparisons between Avatar Aang and Avatar Korra. Which bender is stronger? Which Avatar accomplished more in their on-screen adventures? A grimmer yet equally necessary point of comparison is how much Aang and Korra each suffered, and what it means for their character arcs. All things considered, tt's clear Korra suffered more trauma and failure than Aang did, but this doesn't make her a worse Avatar.

Fans can fault Korra for her judgment and personality if they so wish, but those are not the core elements of Korra's character. Korra may not have been as likable as Aang on a whole, but she's just as worthy as being the Avatar. Korra suffered a lot to be the Avatar, even more so than Aang – which made her a much realer & richer character.

The 10 Most Badass Legend of Korra Characters, Ranked
Image
Some characters in The Legend of Korra, like Suyin Beifong and Bolin, are fan-favorites because they are wise, caring, and gentle. Other characters, however, have a unique quality to them that fans can't help but admire — they are badasses. Fans love badass characters because they are tough and have a fearless attitude. These forceful personalities take charge, ultimately shaping the plot in big ways.

Heroes and villains alike in The Legend of Korra can be badass, as toughness and confidence aren’t inherently good or evil—they’re just forms of self-expression. Heroes often display their strength to protect others or embrace an antihero role, while villains use intimidation and extreme methods to achieve their goals. Many characters in The Legend of Korra fit this mold, stealing the spotlight whenever they unleash their badass side.

Avatar: The Last Airbender and its successor, The Legend of Korra, were able to deliver a lot of brilliant fight scenes with its core group of characters. There has been a lot of debate online about which squad was the better when it came to laying down a curbstomp, but there is one team that is routinely left out of these conversations, most probably because there are only a few who could match them when it came to power, skill and screen presence.

10 Avatar: The Last Airbender Characters Who Had Plot Armor Stronger Than Ba Sing Se’s Walls
Image
In an action/adventure anime like Avatar: The Last Airbender, it's very rare to see a character actually die on-screen, no matter how intense the action or danger may be. For one thing, casual deaths would be traumatizing for a kid-oriented series like Avatar. For another, Avatar obviously can't finish its story if the major characters all wind up dead. The most important heroes and villains must survive to the end so they can all shape the plot in meaningful ways – even Game of Thrones understood this.

Sadly, this calls for some serious plot armor for all the major characters in Avatar. In some cases, characters are simply too skilled and too smart to kill. In other cases, fighters conveniently show mercy when they defeat their enemies. In a few extreme cases, characters who were fighting to kill even show mercy to keep the plot moving.

Everything We Know About How the Nations Changed After The Legend of Korra
Image
A new entry in the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise, titled Avatar: Seven Havens, seems to bring a lot of new changes to the franchise. From what is known about the series, the world will be torn apart by a devastating cataclysm, with new enemies from the human and spirit world hunting the new Avatar. The last strongholds of humanity are barely holding on, and the world is a much bleaker place compared to the first two entries in the franchise. However, that leaves fans to speculate about the state of each nation in this chaotic new era.

At the end of The Legend of Korra, we still see the United Republic of Nations struggling to address the aftermath of Kuvira's invasion. Other independent territories like the Air Nation and Water Tribes are still active, but not much is known about the state of the other nations after The Legend of Korra's conclusion.
