Held in partnership with the United Nations General Assembly, New York’s Climate Week is a massive, decentralized festival that this year ballooned to 900 events taking place all across the city from Sept. 22 to 29. This year, Hollywood names — from Matt Damon and Benedict Cumberbatch to heads of sustainability at Netflix, NBCUniversal and Paramount Global — took a prominent role, taking part in panel discussions, speeches, film screenings and even a vegan hot dog truck (thanks Rainn Wilson).
The confab also saw the debut of the inaugural Climate Film Festival, where 59 films — including such titles as Ecocide, Farming While Black, Hot & Toxic, and The Wild Robot — unspooled over 72 hours, along with a keynote speech by wildlife filmmaker James Honeyborne.
“Climate Week is the nexus of so many things. It’s always a place to learn what’s going on,” René Jones, chief of social impact at UTA, tells The Hollywood Reporter. She...

Days of our Lives spoilers tease drama-filled episodes that leave fans with more questions than answers.
This week ended with a couple of Friday cliffhangers that left three lives hanging in the balance.
Paulina (Jackée Harry), Tripp (Lucas Adams), and Wendy (Victoria Grace) are the three who might not make it on Days.
The latest preview video dropped by Peacock does little to answer if they survive.
In fact, Paulina gets a visit from an angel with Abe (James Reynolds) by her side, wondering if this is the end for his wife.
The visitor isn’t revealed in the footage, but fans speculate that the angel is Abe’s late wife, Lexie (Renée Jones), and she will find a way to save Paulina.
Ava fears the worst, and Holly gets a surprise

Days of our Lives fans are buzzing about whether or not Paulina (Jackée Harry) will die, especially after Friday’s show.
Paulina can’t catch a break, and things have gone from bad to worse for her.
The Salem mayor was first diagnosed with cancer, but after a successful surgery, she suffered a heart attack.
With her family rallied around her, Paulina declined this week as she waited for a heart transplant.
In true soap fashion, Days fans were left with a Friday cliffhanger that has Paulina’s life hanging in the balance.
So will Paulina survive this health crisis, or will Abe (James Reynolds) lose another wife?
Will Paulina die on Days of our Lives?
All signs point to Paulina sticking around and some soap magic saving her life. Jackée hasn’t indicated that she plans to leave the show.

This article contains mild spoilers for Star Trek: Picard" season 3.
One general complaint Trekkies may make about "Star Trek" in general is its geocentricity. Every single "Star Trek" series to date ("Star Trek: Prodigy" notwithstanding) has featured a human captain from Earth. And while each show usually features several alien/artificial characters in prominent roles, humans are still the overwhelming norm. Indeed, Starfleet Headquarters is located on Earth, the Federation was officially founded on Earth, and all Starfleet vessels are constructed at the Utopia Planitia shipyards orbiting Mars.
These creative decisions are understandable from a production perspective; all the people making "Star Trek" are indeed humans, and all its viewers are from Earth. The aliens and androids on "Star Trek" are meant to offer human viewers a fresh perspective on their own humanity, inviting us to look at our own foibles as a species from the perspective of a non-human outsider.

The trial continues for an Alabama grandmother who is charged with capital murder for allegedly forcing her 9-year-old granddaughter, Savannah Hardin, to run for three hours as punishment for lying about eating candy bars. On Wednesday, jurors heard testimony from Kristen Green, who met Joyce Garrard at the hospital where Savannah was taken after she collapsed. She described Garrard as "very blunt," "numb" and "not what I would have expected" for someone whose granddaughter was on life support, Al.com reports. Green went on to testify that she passed Garrard a message from one of Savannah's teachers and the grandmother said: "[Expletive] her.

One group that is in it to win it is Boyz II Men, who told MTV News they were among the "progenitors" of the entire boy-band genre. "We were kind of like the progenitors, the torch holders of a lot of the artists, of a lot of the boy bands that came about," Nathan Morris told us.

Days Of Our Lives Star Jones To Retire

Renee Jones, who has portrayed TV's longest-running African-American character, has quit the daytime soap she has been a star of for over two decades.
Jones has announced she's walking away from her Lexie Carver role on Days of Our Lives.
She tells TV Guide magazine, "I am so excited about this decision. It's been on my mind for over a year. I am so grateful to Days for 20 years of steady employment... but I finally had to stop and ask myself, 'What really makes me happy? What really brings me joy in life?' And it's not acting. I just don't want to do this anymore.
"I was raised on a farm in Georgia and I want to get back to that silence, that solitude. I want to spend all day enjoying nature, experiencing God. Every so often production at Days will go dark for a couple of weeks and I feel relieved. I feel free. I'm like, 'Wow, there's a whole other world out there!' Acting now feels like a chore and I need a break.
"I want to hike, read books, take yoga classes. And then I'll think about what I want to do with my life. I would love to do charity work, especially something where I'm working with sick babies, holding them, just giving them love, helping them heal. That would be a dream. If something really, really great comes along acting-wise, maybe I would consider it. But I don't think so."...

Today is going rogue with this week with Sarah Palin (and Ryan Seacrest), as NBC’s morning talk show wages battle with rival Good Morning America, which, as previously reported, has Katie Couric co-hosting through Friday.
The controversial Palin will turn the tables on the “gotcha media” this Tuesday, when she drops by Today on Tuesday to host opposite Matt Lauer. Meanwhile, American Idol frontman Seacrest is slated to appear Tuesday, as well, “to make a big NBC announcement.” (Today exec producer Jim Bell first tweeted the news.)

An eccentric psychic is about to return to Salem.
EW has learned exclusively that Beverly Todd (Crash, Bucket List) will join NBC’s Days of Our Lives as Celeste, the nutty mom of Lexie Carver (Renee Jones). She will fill the role previously played by Tanya Boyd since 1994.
Todd will first appear on April 3 for a multi-episode arc. Here’s how the producers described Celeste when they put out the call for a “gorgeous African-American female” to play the character now: “Celeste is a unique character in every way. She has had a very sordid past with many errors in judgment.

They all look spectacular, but is it natural beauty or a cosmetic surgeon's knife that makes the women of Desperate Housewives (TV) appear younger and younger each season? Well, we're about to find out that one of the Wisteria women underwent a nose job. Which one, you wonder? Well, the model, of course. Yes, an upcoming episode will find the ladies learning that Gaby's nose is not her original. "Of course Gaby's had her nose done," Eva Longoria Parker tells me. "Gaby's had everything done. Please. She's definitely a proponent of Botox, nose jobs, boob jobs and any other kind of job." The scandalous news will be leaked to the other housewives by neighborhood newcomer Renee Jones (Vanessa Williams).

It only figures that Paramount Pictures would continue their DVD re-releases of the original Friday the 13th flicks with that 2009 remake still generating so much discussion. After all, it's not like a Hollywood studio to overlook an opportunity to make some extra money. Still, I have to give them at least a little bit of credit. A lot of care was taken in producing those Deluxe Editions of Friday the 13th, part I, II and III. The transfers were, by-and-large, excellent, the sound was a definite improvement and a lot of creativity went into compiling all the special features. If a studio is going to double-dip, for fans this is how it should be done. While none of these films are what I'd call my personal favorites, they're all such silly guilty pleasures it's hard to work up much in the way of anger towards those who might feel different.
