5/18 I'm still trying to figure out why Grand Central wasn't in the In Competition category and not the Un Certain Regard group. It's an excellent sophomore effort by writer/director Rebecca Zlotowski. The film stars Tahar Rahim as a drifter who works at a nuclear plant. His job is dangerous enough but its his bedding of one of the foreman's wives, played by the gorgeous Lea Seydoux that's the real risk. It manages to build a world, a functioning society around these plant workers who know that one slip-up can mean their death. Perhaps the officials didn't want to have two films starring Rahim in competition for the Palme d'Or since Asghar Farhadi Le Passe is still the front-runner and they knew it would be? 8.7 of 10. PS: In a perfect world this movie would make it big and, if it did, women's one-pieces would be flying off the shelves.
