Poll: The Hollywood Tentpole (2005-2015)
*A tentpole film is a high-budget feature film by a major studio (WB, Fox, Sony, Universal, Disney) meant to ensure high box office profits with mass promotion, wide international release on a single date or in a close period with possible 3D, Thursday showings and trilogy/franchise screenings.
**Originality is not restricted to being an "original film." Originality can mean aspects of story, craft and cinematic significance. Remember, Stanley Kubrick is considered one of the most original filmmakers of all time and every single one of his classic films is an adaptation of a novel.
Note: The criteria for the selected films beyond "tentpole" definition is that the critical and audience consensus be at least fairly positive in the IMDb, audience, fanbase and critical communities as a general consensus. My personal feelings about any of these films are NOT a factor.
