Nothing is more exciting than deciphering the actions of a complex anime character. Knowing their true motivations and tracing back the subtle instances of foreshadowing throughout their character arc offers a different sort of pleasure. And who is a better character than Gin Ichimaru from Bleach for that! Gin was a consistently creepy character; however, there were moments where I questioned if he was secretly a good guy.

That obviously didn’t turn out to be true, considering the bloodshed he indulged in alongside Aizen. Even if he had ulterior motives, Gin was committed to the path of evil he had chosen. This made his sadistic interaction with Rukia during the Soul Society arc a bit surprising, as his actions couldn’t simply be categorised as good or evil.
