On-Air Film Review: Here Comes the ??? In ‘The Wedding Banquet’
Chicago – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Scott Thompson for Wbgr-fm on April 17th, 2025, reviewing the new film “The Wedding Banquet,” a remake of a classic film from Ang Lee, from director Andrew Ahn. In theaters April 18th.
Han Gi-chan is Min, a South Korean expatriate living in the U.S. with his lover of five years Chris (Bowen Yang). His family is wealthy, including the grandmother Ja-Young who raised Min and expects him now to get married. On the other same-sex side is Lee (Lily Gladstone) and Angela (Kelly Marie Tran) who are trying to have a child through in-vitro, but it’s not working, even as Angela’s mother May (Joan Chen), is a complete and proud supporter.
